Archived What deals have you gotten at Target?

I did really well with the C9 deal on Sunday as well. Got 3 pairs of sneakers and a workout tops, for about $45-$50 total.

Archived So How did Black Thurs. Go For You?

Ours went well. Beat our sales goal by about $3,000, finishing with around $760K I think. No meal violations all day which was good. I worked 7:30 pm Thursday night-10:00 am Friday morning in Electronics. Crazy 'til about midnight/1 am, then slow during the night, before it was starting to pick...

    Archived Number of Front Checklanes

    Let's see. We've got 32 checklanes, 5 guest service, 1 photo, 2 electronics, 1 jewelry, 1 optical, 2 pharmacy, 1 deli, 2 food ave, and 2 Starbucks. Total of 49 registers.

    Archived Out of dates

Your service desk team member will thank you if you monitor these consistently instead of finding a bunch all at once. One night I was closing guest service when our LOD noticed that a checklane had some of these that were expired. He proceeded to check all of our registers and brought them up...

Archived beauty concierge program in chicago

Sounds similar to our "Boots" representatives-dressed in all black, etc. I don't think our Boots rep is in store 40 hours though-more like 20-25. How many other stores have a Boots rep.?

    Archived Stepping down from GSA

I made that move a few months ago and am much happier. I'm a college student and with my availability, I went a month straight where all I did was close as GSA. We're an 11:00 store, so this meant not getting home to almost midnight every night. I now work most shifts in Food Ave while helping...

I got up to 80 hours before my ETL-HR told me I needed to start using them.

Archived So, um. Re: Black Friday

If you're there at opening you will just be ringing. As the chaos dies down, you might venture out from the boat a bit, but what I told guests when I was in electronics on Black Friday was that I could ring them up, open a case for them, and tell them what we were out of-anything more advanced...

Archived Cross Trained Vs. Not Cross Trained

I'm trained in cashier, guest service, photo, GSA, hardlines, softlines, operator, grocery, produce, and have gotten thrown into electronics occasionally during the holidays. I've just started training in Food Ave. I love working in a variety of work centers-more hours to get and keeps things...

Archived What would you do if you could change target at will?

Let's see: 1. Give the team enough/functioning equipment to do their jobs properly 2. Make the extra 10% off Archer Farms/Market Pantry a permanent part of the discount 3. Add a guaranteed reward for guests who take the survey. Example: Guest takes survey, they are still entered in the drawing...

Archived What would you do if you could change target at will?

I don't think it's a bad idea-I certainly covered GSTL/GSA breaks prior to becoming a GSA, but I think the person covering needs to be equipped to do the job properly. Leaving them out there with no supervisor number so that if they get called for an override, the have to call another person...

Red card and Check card conversion

We're an A volume store, I believe. Truthfully, I don't think we do anything too over the top to help us get a lot of cards-we usually just do walkie recognition, Great Team Cards, etc. Occasionally, we'll do Hot Potato with the winner getting a gift card, or $5 gift cards when someone gets five...

    I'm Lost! The REDCard Thread

It is fixed and an urgent message came down today saying that guest's accounts will be credited for the 5% for that day. So I guess people will be getting a little extra off.

Red card and Check card conversion

We tend to get 10-20 a day during the week, and anywhere from 20-30 on weekends. Most I've seen on a non holiday type day was 41 one Saturday a few months ago. It does help that we have one cashier who is pushy to the point of obnoxiousness about it, but it general the majority of our cashiers...

    Archived Split shift question

Are either of the shifts long enough that you need a lunch? Occasionally when we've had cashiers work a split shift where they've worked something like four hours early in the day and then four at night, they've done start meal when they left their first shift and end meal when they come back...

    I'm Lost! The REDCard Thread

Yup, our store as well. I was ready to hold a front end math huddle to help our cashiers figure out 5%. Hopefully it will be fixed by tomorrow. On some of the large amounts I was trying to have our cashiers enter coupons in $5 increments so that we as GSTL's didn't have to override every single one.

    Archived Summer POS software rollout

We have it at our store. When you go into K8 for extras it gives you 2 options-one for WIC food and one for WIC produce. If you do the produce option it asks you if the guest has the WIC identification (the little packet with their signature on it. Once you hit "yes" it asks you for the check #...
