Does anyone know what the policy is on bringing non-TM's to the TM areas of the store?

One of the other cashiers brought her boyfriend into the break room with her. They sat to chat during her break. I don't think it's very professional to say the least. Should I mention it to HR or LOD?

It is a no-no. Non Target TMs are a risk, information and security wise (i.e. Someone being able to find out about deals and official policies that aren't available to guests normally). If I remember, on one of the training quizzes, it has an example of a guest or maybe a vendor that just barges back into the TSC office doors and you are supposed to ask them if they need help with anything but they are not allowed to be back there.

Now having said that...it all depends on how lenient your store is. Usually we have plenty of husbands/wives/boyfriends/girlfriends that come in to eat lunch with someone, but they usually do so at Target Cafe. If she is the only one doing it then yeah I would bring it up to the HR or LOD in a way that you are asking for clarification on the policy for yourself rather than trying to pee in someone else's proverbial cheerios.

I've seen plenty of parents bring their kids in and a few times the parents of a minor employee but never a SO.

Occasionally we will have a kiddo in the TSC with a parent...but they are never in the break room. We have one ETL whose husband will bring her kiddo to eat dinner with her on the nights she closes, but they always eat in the cafe area. But never SOs. But I wouldn't say anything to an LOD unless it was more than a one time thing and they were annoying the heck out of me (being super loud, making out, something to that effect).

I've only seen one non-TM in the break room and he always received dirty looks. He was the boyfriend of a TM but it was clear that he was not welcome there. Accompanied kids show up in the TSC but never significant others, at my store.

Thanks for the info. I was pretty sure it might have been covered in one of the stupid "scenario" books. I probably won't say anything until it becomes a regular thing. Who knows the reason why it happened today.

Better in the break room, than in the offices. I have done it when café is a madhouse. Our TSC is set up if you use the correct door, they never set foot in an office part. It also helped that my SO knows one of our ETL's outside of work.

Like others have said, kids are okay, but SO's will not be welcome lol. I've never seen others in mine in 5 years except kids.

I guess my store was very supportive. We have husband or wives in the break room visiting. We had no issue about it. Also it's a moral booster if they come.

Don't mention it to HR or LOD. No need to get involved into something that doesn't involve you, and possibly getting someone termed.

If you see the non-tm stealing, or talking about stealing then cool, but if they're just chatting, it isn't really your place to worry about.

You don't want be known as "that guy who tells"

We have a few TMs who have had children recently, so their SO's will bring the baby in to visit everyone & will hang out in TSC for a bit. No one complains, & HR & the ETLs are the ones who seem to love it the most.

I know an ETL once brought her daughter in to the office area to show her where mommy works. The kid was really cute, so it was okay.

If it was an ugly kid, I'm sure somebody would've said something... ;)

My store has strict rules about TM's. No TM is EVER to eat in Target Cafe while wearing colors. All family meals in colors are to be in the break room. Personally, if you are off the clock, what can Target say?????? Just saying..... *pokes ACLU*

Why I would rather eat in the break room. I have been bothered in a jacket minding my own business.

BS Rule. There is no corporate policy for TM not eating in Target Cafe. I would complain to the higher ups. Sometimes there are not enough room in the break room for all the TMs to eat.

Actually I've seen printed documents about asking team members not to be in cafe. However which store enforces these rules differ.

I hate eating in the break room. Too many TM's cutting up and being loud while I'm trying to get some peace of mind for a few minutes. I eat at Target Café. But I wouldn't eat there if I had food bought outside of Café.

At my first store the Starbucks TL (since long gone) was rude with me because I drank a frappe in their seating area on my 15,(it was about 9 on a Sunday, I was doing ad setup, seating area was completely empty) so I listened, drank it in the break room and never ordered anything from there again.

If ETLs were allowed to have their coffee klatch (errrr I mean statuses) there, then piss off if I can't enjoy my drink which I bought there.

This is correct, though it also states that TMs should use the Cafe area if their family is with them. That's the one exclusion.

I have also been told this; I would rather eat in the more secluded break room than out in Food Ave with all the annoying people.

The only time I would see non-team members in the break room would be when a team member was off and it was payday and they had kids or their significant other with them. Other than that, I never saw any ETLs make it a huge deal.

my store always allowed family in the Breakroom as long as they were escorted .
