Ok I know Target can do whatever the hell they want, change rules, change dress code etc. But can they( store manager, TL) make you change your availability? So here is my problem.... just recently I got sick, I was out for 3 days I had a DR. note excusing me ok. Now I admit i have called out a few times on a specific day but haven't done so in a while. So now with no warning she tells me I have to switch up my days off, my unavailable days. I have had this same schedule for the 16 yrs. that i have been with the same Target(Minus the time i volunteered for the remodeling and for covering receiving for them) Cried my eyes out from anger and hurt. Thought they could of put me like on a probation status. So can they do that? Please tell me there is something I can do.

Welcome. Update your availability in workday.

Thank you. So my availability is Tue.- Sat. 9am to 530 and Sun. and Mon. off. I've had this shift for 16yrs. plus and now she is demanding to switch my Sun.for another day. Ok so at one point months ago I was calling out on my Tue. schedule do to sickness or personal. It was verbally brought to my attention back in Dec. or beginning of Jan. and haven't called out since. So here demanding this with a DR. excuse concern me. Now the other times no note and nothing.
They forgot to mention the *if / *or part of the request, if it is a request. Change your days IF you want to keep your hours OR you will lose them.
It's not an order, it's either a request (if your official in-the-system availability currently doesn't allow it) or a statement that they are changing your days (if your availability says you can work those days).

To the best of my knowledge, your TL cannot make you change your availability once it’s been approved. Leadership can deny any requests that you make to change your availability, but once your availability has been approved, however long ago, your leadership can’t change it without your consent, it’s supposed to be set in stone. It’s not official Target policy, of course, but some leaders who aren’t getting their way just might possibly cut your hours, try to performance you out, or make your work life as miserable as possible to try to get you to bend the knee or leave. Hope things work out for you. Good luck!

Is the *request* because of a change in the store's needs? For instance, when our truck days changed, a bunch of us where "asked," meaning "expected," to change our schedules to match. However, when we had the DBO model and two long-term DBO TMs who'd hired in for work that didn't require weekends (Plano & Price Change), they didn't have to work weekends even though we have (and had then) Saturday trucks. And now that we're not doing the DBO thing anymore, they're back to doing mostly what they started with and still no weekends.

However, I remember another long-term TM who was kind of unhappy being stuck on Fulfillment. She asked to be moved to a different work center, which definitely should have been possible, but oh so sorry, we can't do that, really need you on FF. She decided she'd had enough of the malarkey being handed out and quit. Really too bad to lose a good TM over what should have been an easily resolved issue.

You can have your availability to whatever you want. However, the store may not provide you hours that meet that availability.

My last store I had full availability and asked to cross-train and work between Front End, Food Ave, Hardlines, and Ad Set. Some weeks I was luck to get 24 hours.

They cannot physically change it but the can ask you. The only time I would ask is if your desired hours and your availability are too close so you would either have to open up availability or lower desired hours.
