What if I hypothetically built a vendor-like business relationship with a scalper in the Target hotwheels aisle
Like in exchange for giving them toy car cases and never pegging them myself, our agreement is they just try to find what they’re looking for, stock the rest, zone the section, crush the boxes and leave for me, then come back the next scheduled delivery
I personally don’t see anything wrong with it. It saves a bit of payroll and their scalping doesn’t frustrate guests, most of which in the toy aisle are under 13, and the only people that seem to know or care about the rubber tire mega-rare prints are over 40. But most guests, including adult collectors, just want to find a new car
Plus the scalpers pretend to just be “passionate toy car collectors” and they try to prove their sincerity to toy cars by zoning the section way better than payroll could, especially since they know I could cut this relationship at any time
That would be against Target policy, which is supposed to give all guests an equal chance at purchasing collectible items, and having unpaid guests working in the store would create legal nightmares. Risks outweigh benefits here, don’t do it.
