Weird question, but I was walking in to Lowes to pick up some wood and I saw an employee walk away as soon as I was approaching to ask a question. Then I noticed she was talking in to her LPDA like a cell phone. I've never seen anyone do that at Target, so I didn't know if they support that type of stuff.

Or maybe she was blowing me off

the lpda has a green phone button and a red phone button on it. like designated call and hang up buttons. I'm sure it has the capabilities to be a phone.

Has anyone made this leap yet. My store has a legally blind team member and it took a couple of years to make workbench compliant for him to use. If anyone knows a program or contact to start the process to make a LPDA voice interactive it would be greatly appreciated. I tried going through Motorola and the tech support is worse than the maze in "The Shining"

You can talk on a PDA, LPDA, pen or key. Keep talking while they escort you in your little white jacket to the nice car with the flashing lights and siren outside.

I used to talk to my LPDA a lot mainly because it crapped out on me often.
Most of what I told it involved its disassimilation & not in a family-friendly invective.
I guess I should be glad that it didn't talk back. I doubt it would've used a very civil tone either.

It probably would've had the same tone as the callbox lady on the 3rd request:tehe:

I feel like the capability is there. If you look on the LPDAs they have the little green and red phone icons like were on the old 90s cell phones. They even have the little microphone hole on the bottom and what looks like a speaker above the screen.

I always though it would be kind of cool to have voice activated lpda. When I'm pulling I often think, I wish I could just say pull one! Instead of juggling what's in my hands to hit the button and enter. Cool too if they voiced the location and you just ran to it. Fun I say.

The functionality you are looking for is most likely NOT available on your LPDA. The Motorola lpda we use can be configured when purchased with a number of hardware options, for instance a digital camera and full cellular capabilities (our flower vendor uses one that has both). These options were most likely not purchased at the time the lpda's were ordered.
