I just started working at Target last week. I had an awful trainer and she didn't really answer any questions I had. Today, they put me in electronics (all alone) and a lot of crap happened. I just wanted to know the proper procedure is to do in the following situations:

1) No guest were in electronics, I was just standing there at the desk. All the sudden, on my walkie I heard " Customer Assistance needed in electronics, sixty seconds." Ever 10 seconds it did the same thing but the time at the end was different. I looked around and still, I saw no one.... It eventually stopped

2) About 4pm like 10 kids came throughout the electronics section all at once (they were in a group). They started fooling around with the xbox one demo and I was afraid they were gonna screw it up. I was about to call AP but decided not to.

3) Lastly, at about 6pm (30 min before my shift was over) and announcement came over my walkie and it said " Code Red Bakery, Code Red Bakery, Code Red Bakery" what is a code red in bakery?

1) Someone hit the guest assistance button in electronics. It needs to be cleared out within 60 seconds or all hell breaks loose. Ask someone who has been there longer to show you where they are in your department and how to clear them.

2) When in doubt, call ap over just to help with crowd control. In a mob of 10 kids, it's too easy for something to break or walk off.

3) Code red is for fire. When you hear that, give it a second to wait for further instructions as to if they have it under control or if you need to evacuate. Hint, ask your ap person where the meet up point is for team members in case there is a fire (likely a restaurant or other store in the shopping center).

They did you no favors.
The least they could have done is told you where the guest assistance button was (my guess is around the corner by the GPS if you couldn't see anybody).
The Code Red is another major issue.
I'm sure the Bakery was able to handle things (g-d knows I've set enough things on fire in the years I worked in kitchens) but they should have told you what the procedure was.

Thanks for answering my questions guys! 1 more question though, what happens it the time runs out on a guest assistance alert, I know it keeps counting down but what happens when it gets to zero.

Does degreaser work on LOD splatter?

For Fresh Blood, Hydrogen Peroxide will work best on flooring & cotton. Don't use on any bright colors though, it may mess with the dyes of the clothing.

For Dried Blood, Plain Ammonia works best.

For Clothes, Dump 1/2 cup of Ammonia into the washer, and use the Coldest Longest Wash Cycle. Repeat with Tide Detergent or Wisk (don't use anything else) and Cold Water if blood stain persists. Overnight Soaking in an Ammonia solution may be needed for really set-in blood on Cotton & (Cotton/Polyester Blend) Fibers. Don't worry about colors or dyes, it won't interfere with them. Under no circumstances should you use Hot or Warm Water, this will set in the blood.

Ammonia, poured directly on floor tiles, and a small amount of scrubbing will completely remove blood from even two days ago.

Don't Ask.....

Are you a seasonal Electronics TM or Electronics cashier?

1. Just make sure you get trained on clearing those buttons. Your store and dept are scored on it. Depending on the guest assistance button, they are easy to clear. The desktop buttons can be cleared by the clear button on top of it. The phone kiosks have a little black button on the side of the phone. And there are some with a soft push button in the signage.

2. My rule of thumb is if they start getting rowdy...give them a warning to stop fooling around. Then call or walkie..."AP guest assistance needed in..."

3. As mentioned for Code Reds, if nearby, block off the area or be ready to extinguish a fire (small ones only). just be ready to drop what you are doing and help escort.

If its a suspicious package, block off the area and communicate to the STL and AP. Let them make the decision for the Code Red.

CODE YELLOW: Is lost child. Drop what you are doing. All exits and bathrooms will be manned by a TM. Wait for a description. Walk all aisles. Find child. Walk the child to the parent.

A Reverse Code Yellow (usually not announced): Is lost parent. Escort child to Guest Service. Call the LOD or AP. Get any info of the parent from the child. If you can get a name, call the parent overhead to Guest Service.

Code Green: Is a accident. A incident has occured which a Guest/TM has fallen or needs immediate medical attention.

For any code, call over walkie or call the operator with Code (location) Code (location) Code (location).

I'm not really sure what my official title is, they just trained me in everything except bakery, deli, optical, and pharmacy.

Would you believe me if I told you that Fake Blood is much harder to remove than Real Blood? ;)
