Does Target hire Senior Citizens?

It's definitely ASANTS but I've worked with two fellow TMs who are 60+ who got hired no problem. One was hired as a Style TM and is still doing exactly that and the other was easily one of the BEST open market TMs my store had ever seen. Granted, this guy ran marathons and worked out like crazy, but he was in his 70s. I believe he works at another store in LA now - anyway, it's definitely possible you have a chance. Just apply and see what happens!

If I see a senior applying, typically they are punctual, periodically grumpy but generally respectful and overall know how the employer employee relationship works. Compare to a 18 yr old that may have ghosted us and I'm looking under the bathroom stalls because instead of giving a 2 week notice or just telling us they quit, they just leave. The 18 year old is also caught with their phone while a guest needs help. Notice I use generally, periodically and may so I am not saying all seniors or all teenagers just in general...but that being stated, durn right our store hires seniors. I make sure of it. Service adv, checkout adv, and Sbux is where they tend to do well and thrive.
I know physically I couldn’t do the cart attendant role but guest advocate says cashier or front end attendant /carts when applying for a job. if I get hired, can I advise that I can do the cashier and wouldn’t t be able to do the carts. On the target job description page cashiers and front end attendant /carts are separate jobs.very confusing.

We have several seniors at our store. Many retired teachers in fact. It seems most are hired as cashiers. I'm a senior and work GM and consumables. Hard work but always look at it as a paid gym membership.
😊

There are not many seniors at my store, I'm one of them. Always scheduled in RTW = exhausting work very much lately due to the tremendous amount of reshop like last week there literally was 9 full baskets a Z rack and other racks staged at the fitting room when I got in at 9 am, and I was there by myself.

If it lists both cashier and cart attendant it probably means they need someone for both jobs. If they just needed cashier it would say cashier and not cart attendant. You would definitely need to talk to a leader to clarify. I would call the store and ask to speak with someone in HR to get clarification before you interview.

I'm proud to say (hey, this is Pride month, isn't it?) that I'd be considered a senior citizen and have worked the checkout lanes, self checkouts, service desk, order pickup and drive-up for a few years. I take particular pride in efficiently handling our drive-up orders and doing everything possible to get the guest's order accurately taken to their car, as much as humanly possible (within safety guidelines) to get a green rating for timeliness. Methinks some of the younger TMs hired from our local high school and colleges are quietly wondering how in ________ (rhymes with "shell") I can keep it up! While our store hasn't hired large numbers of senior citizens over the years, and some haven't stayed on with us too long, Target can be a pretty decent opportunity for senior citizens with the usual caveat that there's minimal likelihood of "climbing the corporate ladder" from grade 35 store hourly jobs into the higher-level jobs unless you live near Minneapolis.

After a few years, while this wasn't my dream job based on my past history and ambitions, at this exact point in time I feel good about the bosses and co-workers in our store and fairly loyal to Target. Compared to a lot of places I've worked in the past, I've actually started to enjoy coming to work most of the time! YMMV. 😎
