My store is in a fairly affluent area, although we have shoppers from various areas. I often used the TCOE as a vibe point. I could point to the list that showed the top 3 schools in the area received over $20,000 from the program. I did point out that the number was over the course of the program not in one year but that 1% does add up. I also point out that some people complain that 1% isn't very much or even that the 5% discount isn't very much but it can really add up and $10,000-$20,000 even over 10 years can make a difference to schools.
