We only do phone interviews if the applicant lives out of state or it would be a long commute for them to come to the store.
 
here is what i have to say after being GSA for 3 months: you're gonna mess up every now and again, and that's okay. my preferred GSTL told me "do what you think is right, if it is wrong, we will let you know so you can correct it in the future." also, setting endcaps can be bullshit, and they will take it down the day after you put it up for no reason. stick with ad, use planos if needed, and ad relevance to holidays. keep in mind, i also became GSA with 0 guest service training(other than the super basics, i knew very little policies) It is very much a learn as you go type of position, but don't be afraid of making wrong decisions. that is what will make everything harder than it needs to be. also, push redcards. like a lot. bribe them with food, random prizes (free $5 movie, $5 gift card, etc.) those seem to work.
