I looked at my store's latest hiring needs sheet and it lists 4 GSA positions available. We are AA+ and have 3 GSTLs and 2 GSAs and for a while we had 4 GSTLs and 2 GSAs but 3 GSTLs and 6 GSAs??? Unless people are resigning or getting fired, but most everyone is good at their job... And by the way sales have been we're probably going to lose our plus next year.

Some stores get more gsa positions for like cash office, guest service, cashiers. It helps!

My store is only an A+ and we have 3 GSTLs and 5 GSAs. Though one of the GSAs is our former 239 specialist (and only works on his 239 days - not scheduled as GSA). Plus, we added 2 GSAs last year for Q4 when we were short a GSTL.

We're a B volume GM store with 2 SrGSTLs and 4 GSAs...Half of our GSAs are scheduled @ guest service cause we don't need that many

And as for two SrGSTLs... one is very good at what she does and went from TL>SrTL but the other one was a brand new hire shortly after they termed a perfectly fine GSTL.

Sometimes Spot will do odd stuff lol... Cutting back payroll while having 2 Senior leads up front.. winning?

In your case it sounds like your STL has some grand plans... alternatively it could be a test to see who has potential and who doesn't. I know my STL bumps up people to Brand TMs to see how they do when given projects etc.

We did that just recently at our store.... Put about 4 people into the GSA position or Brand TM position to get them leadership experience. We currently have 4 of our Team Leaders up for ETL positions so we need to build a bench here pretty DARN quick for Team Leaders.

we're an AA+ super-t and only have 2 gsa 3 gstl... it was 1/3 for Q4 (not fun)

the guaranteed hours are nice though :)

Same volume and we only have 2 and 2 :) That is what we are allocated so that is what we get!

How many hours per week are allocated to the GSTL/GSA workcenter?

~125 GSTL/GSA
~50 photo (approx 32 given to GSTL/GSA)
~21 cash office
Plus approx 20 cashier hours, and 8 to 16 guest service hours. Varies as needed.

Only 20 cashier hours per WEEK???? We have over 900 (sorry not 9000 haha)

Do lower volume stores just use GSAs as super cashiers? lol

Nooo, I was talking about GSTL/GSA allocations. That's how many that WE use out of those workcenters.

I never understood how it made sense to have a SrGSTL. The LOD has to be available for the whole store, but a GSTL is pretty much tied to the front end. Unless SrGSTLs are scheduled elsewhere for their LOD shifts.

i could never figure out why they have sr gstls either. There is no job code for sr gstl they are all coded as srtl salesfloor. It seems stupid to shove all that responsibility onto gsas and 1 TL.

I always kind of liked the idea. SrTL are only LOD for half their shift, so they only need to be available to the whole store for that amount of time. I've never worked in a store with a Sr. GSTL, but I think they would work nicely in a ULV store with only a ETL-SF/GE. The Sr. could take over some of the roles of the GE. Depending on the store, it might be hard to make a GSTL shift work with the LOD schedule, so maybe they could have the Sr. GSTL have 2 full shifts as LOD instead of 3-4 1/2 shifts? I worked in a B volume store that survived quite well on 1 GSTL and 2 GSAs (before cash office was added to core roles for GSAs), so I really think 1 GSTL and 1 Sr. GSTL would work just fine. The number of GSA could just vary based on store needs.

I had a SrGSTL, and he worked 2 LOD shifts a week. One open, one close. Wasn't included in the weekend rotations for LOD, but had rotating GSTL weekends. He would be scheduled under Sales Floor for LOD shifts, and GSTL for GSTL shifts.

When one of our Hardlines SrTLs was on maternity leave, one of the GSTLs became a temporary SrTL and was scheduled under Hardlines whenever he was LOD.
