Archived Handling the Possible Bad Personal Checks

How do other cashiers handle a customer when you try to process their check with State ID and it's denied?
Do you call for help(prompt on the screen) or just ask for other means of payment? What check processing system does Target use? Isn't interesting the frauds always come in at closing time?

I tell them it's been denied & ask if they have another means of payment.
They'll always ask me why it's been denied: I really don't know. It could be that you haven't written a check with us before or it could be an issue with your bank. You'll want to contact them & no, they won't talk to me.
No, there isn't a way to override a declined check.
