Okay so i have worked at target for over a year in softlines, usually ready to wear. Only one to finish my zone every night finger spaced every rack and all reshop cleared usually sent to other zones . (Mind you we are a high volume store and biggest softlines section in my state) . I am youngest in softlines and feel taken avantage of daily. I used to be full time but during school only weekends. I am always told how thankful they am for what i do blah blah blah yet dont show it by advancing others who in my opinion dont try half as hard as i do. But i am not a brand team member yet others who have come after me are.. also at my store there are designated trainers / only brand team members train. I am the ONLY team member who is not brand who trains new team members. I have training in the first place but people are being paid to train and i am not yet still train every new team member. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

According to my co workers and my team lead, only brand team members train at my store and when you are moved to brand you are offered a pay raise (here at least). Not much at all so i am told but that is besides the point. Not even focussing on pay really just being a brand team member in general.

I was asked to be a trainer but turned it down due to no extra pay. Not going to do even more extra work for nothing. They still ask every so often but I still decline

Being a trainer has no extra pay.

No extra pay for trainers...because ANYONE can train someone. At least in my store, it's no one person's job to train fellow TMs.

And I have no idea what a brand team member is. What is that?

I've always known it to mean you "own" [are ultimately responsible for] a specific area in the store (i.e. shoes, women's accessories, cosmetics) and your entire brand shift is dedicated to working that area, but it seems to be more broadly used in a way I don't understand now.

It's kind of hard to maintain the brand if you're only there two days a week.

Being a trainer has nothing to do with being a Brand TM, so don't equate it to a pay raise for training.

They do at my store. ASANTS?

This is misleading, trainers do not get extra pay under any circumstances. Unless they are a Brand TM who make 25 cents extra.

All brand TMs are usually trainers BUT you do not have to be a brand TM to be a trainer. If your store told you that they lied. There is a limit to how many brand TMs you can have.

I'm sorry to disagree, but I've seen it for myself. I am privy to certain things personnel-wise, and at my store, we have three flow members who are trainers, one in market, one in electronics, one in food avenue, one in the backroom, one in receiving, one in soft lines, and one for sales floor. They make 35 cents extra an hour.

I have no doubt that you're right HRZone, since I've seen from your previous posts, you know what you're talking about. Perhaps this is something at my store that needs to be bought to corporate's attention.

Bingo!

This is spot on. Officially they are supposed to make their assigned area is "brand" and up to standard.

Yeah I apologize for implying I know everything. I guess what I was trying to say is trainers are not supoosed to get a raise, brand tms are. I cant say what goes on at every store but I do know Target believes people should train others without financial incentive

sooo i have a question! what are brand TMs? as ive never heard of this before. is it the same as a specialist? like we have a signing TM who got a 50 cent raise to be as such and then the PAs who also got that 50c. same deal or no?

No, grafitti explained what it is. Those are there own actual positions.

I personally have not seen a brand TM who wasnt softlines or hardlines. We have a brand TM for shoes, one for cosmetics. We have two more and I am not sure what they specifically oversee.

A brand TM is one who knows what Spot expects in the way things should look - what is allowed and what is not allowed as far as making the floor look good or as they call it "brand". This is generally someone who has been with Spot for awhile. With exception of positions like PA, we no longer have what was once referred to as "Specialist" positions at least in title. Meaning the job still exists but they are typically referred to now as "Brand TMs" and not as "Specialists". A brand TM generally owns one area in large volume stores but in low volume ones they may be a bit more generalized in what they do. And yes, stores are limited how many "Brand TMs" they can have. I work in a low volume store as a Brand TM in SL but I don't own any one area of SL. I'm given task lists on a daily basis to take care of problems that have been noticed on the SL side of the sales floor by my TLs or by my ETL or STL. This means that on a daily basis I could be working in any one of the ten departments of SL.

In our store Brand TMs get a 25 cent pay increase but not all our trainers are Brand TMs and those who train only do not get a pay increase. But as someone else said ASANTS.... I think in low volume stores where they are allowed fewer Brand TMs that having only Brand TMs train would be problematic...

I think maybe they mean 'brand' as is someone who does their job as it should be. "Up to expectations"

Granted yes there is 'Brand TM' which merchandises, superzones, maintains brand that does get a raise.

That being said, anyone can be a trainer.
