Hello fellow "The Break Room" forum goers. I'll be joining the target team tomorrow, it's my first job as well so I'm really nervous in addition to my excitement. I've got a few concerns I have though, so If anyone can help me answer them I'll appreciate it.

1)I tried getting on the EHR website but I just keep getting an error screen telling me that the website doesn't exist, I tried both chrome and IE btw.
2)I know the dress code is khakis and a t-shirt but the only red t-shirt I have without a huge logo on it is a golf shirt with a little logo with a name written below it, is this shirt alright for tomorrow?
3)Since it's my first job I'm still really confused on how to work the machine to punch in punch out, any help on this would be appreciated.
4)I'll be working as a cashier so how hard is it to sell those Red Cards because I've heard things such as being fired if you don't sell them and I'd like to avoid that.

Thanks again in advance guys and if you have any questions for me I'll gladly answer them ^_^

Welcome to Target! :)

1) What url are you using? Also eHR only works in IE (which is ridiculous).
2) It should be okay, you can wear your name tag over the logo if need be.
3) Assuming your time clock is like mine, hit "start work", punch in your TM# (leave off the leading zeros) and hit enter. At the end of your shift, hit "end work" instead.
4) Make sure you ask every guest in your line. Some people seems to be really good at getting Red Cards, you can partner with those TMs and ask them for tips.

That is not the definitely not the website lol. Go to Target.com, scroll way down and click on "team member services" under "about Target", then click on eHR.

Welcome to The Break Room!

eHR: You'll have to set a password in-store before you can really do anything.

Time clock: If they didn't show you how to operate it at orientation, then have someone show you when you start your first training shift. It's pretty straight-forward, so I'm sure you can handle it.

Red Cards: During your cashier training, your trainer should cover Red Cards. If you need advice on selling techniques, talk to a GSTL, GSA, or veteran cashier. We have a cashier guide and [over 9,000!!!] threads about Red Cards, but you should wait until you've gone through your training so you don't get overwhelmed.

First relax. How you "sell" the Red Card is important to the guest. I never mention Target Red Card. I always call it the "Target Debit Card". When you say it, put a little bit of space into each word and make eye contact with the guest. If the Guest uses a check, say "Would you like me to tell you how I can save you 5% by using that check?" Most people eat that up. Once you have them realize that you can save them money by them using no extra effort, you can wrap one up pretty quick. In fact, every time I have a guest use a check I usually get a Red Card. If you come off desperate, you'll scare them off. Make sure you get some time in with your Target Protection Specialist on common fraud techniques like quick changing.
