Is your Target store cracking down on minors?

Any idea how many young moms I see shopping with young children in tow or in the cart's child seat? And their carts of full of things like diapers, groceries, cleaning supplies. They're in my area so the kids can pick out their new toothbrushes and get stocked up on vitamins etc.
Our sales would crash with this rule in place.
Although I wouldn't mind a "no unaccompanied minors" rule.
Would you like a rule such as “no unaccompanied minors under 16” or something similar.

I'm not sure 16- and 17-year-olds are all that responsible. I was at that age, but then I was hyper-responsible practically from birth. My big gripe is against whoever's playing with shaving cream. They do other things, but that's the worst of what I have to clean up.

My store has recently banned all guests under the age of 18 with a sign saying “All guests under the age of 18 are not allowed in this Target store”. My store had an issue with teenagers acting up in the store and this resolved it.

Essentially, at my location, if you’re under the age of 18, you can no longer enter the store even if you’re accompanied by an adult. As an employee, we have had numerous issues with teens, such as teens fighting, knocking stuff, using slurs, and disrespecting employees. One guest came in and said that they loved this new policy.

But, what do you think about it?
So your saying a 17 year can’t shop with mom?

Proof is in the pudding. See how sales compare before and after. I think it's crazy to ban ALL minors, even when accompanied by an adult. A lot of college freshman are minors, and need to buy stuff for their first time living away from home.
I agree. I think a lot of parents will stop shopping if their teens cannot.

2 high dollar local colleges <3 mi from the local Target. The kids spend a lot of money. They are respectful and well behaved. They drive BMW's.

I don’t have these rules at my Target store but yeah I’d like a “no minors under 18 allowed at all” rule at my store. My Target store isn’t too bad but I’d still like a rule.

I think the OP was a troll because there’s no Target store that does not allow minors at all. Some locations ban unaccompanied minors but not all minors. While a “no guests under 18 policy” would be nice, it would likely make Target stores go out of business because of all the teens and young kids who go there.

And at my store I only occasionally get issues with teenagers.

The other account was either his child’s account or his troll account.

Also, my store has locked up the shaving cream so teenagers can’t mess with it anymore.

The other account about these policies was probably the OP’s other account as it ended with “61”, with a similar joining date, and had reported similar incidents at their location which was suspicious. That account seemed to make it seem like the user liked a “no unaccompanied minors” policy better. That was the only difference.

Also, what age do you think people should go to Target?

this hasnt been implemented in my store and i doubt it will. my area has issues with teenagers a lot but this is such a crazy rule i dont see it ever flying. an 18+ target just sounds wild 😭

Not one bit. I will say that recently my store has become quite the teen hangout, especially about an hour or two before we close. Riding the amigos, throwing balls across the store, harassing team members, it's getting worse now that school is ending for the summer too. I remember being that age and going to the local Walmart or K-mart to walk around to kill time but we were never dickheads about it like these kids are now

lol/lmao
sorry kiddos, even tho I'm a closeted zoomer appreciator and do in fact fuck with y'alls memes and weirdly compelling zoomerness, all retail stores should unironically have a bar and on-premise liquor license for this exact reason

I’m not burger job 61 or whatever the account was.

And while it would be nice, the policy would reduce my business a lot because I get lots of teens and kids at our store. And my issues related to young people aren’t too bad I only occasionally get rude teens.

I think a no minors policy at Target would be good and bad at the same time. A no unaccompanied minors policy would slightly impact the consumer basis but it wouldn’t be as significant.

My Target is in a fairly good area.

And my store has locked up all shaving creams which I think was a step in the right direction. Teenage boys would put shaving creams on things sometimes. They can’t do it anymore since shaving cream is locked up at my location.

You don’t need to ban unaccompanied minors or all minors from stores unless there’s really a need, more adult places would be nice, but it would have a negative impact on our consumer basis. We get lots of teenage customers as well as families with younger children who are just fine.

I actually once attempted a no unaccompanied minor policy a couple years ago when a teen was being rude and stealing but the store wouldn’t let me because they knew it would impact their business.

I’ve worked at Target since 2022
