I've seen this at my store. Certain items that are spider wrapped while they are locked up behind glass in the electronics section. Seems like a waste. If they are locked up, they don't need spider wrap.
Double merchandise protection is generally frowned upon but I've seen some places that will do something like this but when a guest asks for an item they can walk around the store with it until they're ready to checkout, it also helps reduce incidents where people push out carts full of stuff
Yup, if I have to get the item I have to check you out right there. Locked peg, lock box, tethered endcap. It was probably not in a case during the prior set.
As for being able to hand it to the guest while they are finishing shopping. Our store has a policy where if we have to unlock it for them it has to be purchased/held. We don't hand the item off.
We have the same policy. I personally was burned once when I unlocked something (from a peg-hook) for a person in a suit and handed it to him, and found out later that he took the spider-wrap off and walked out. Also why I don't trust anyone. As for being able to hand it to the guest while they are finishing shopping. Our store has a policy where if we have to unlock it for them it has to be purchased/held. If im doing a flex and a guest needs a game or ipod, I'll unlock the case and spider wrap it so they can take it upfront if there isn't an cashier in electronics.
They are a high theft item because they can be easily hidden and then returned later for a high dollar amount, similar to tooth whitening strips and shaving cartridges.I will say the hair straighteners I do hold at guest services, but flea treatments honestly I don't care if they get stolen. I would rather puppy/kitty gets the treatment.

Electronics had a reset not that long ago, so there is still product in locked cases that has the spider wraps. Spider wraps are even easier to remove when flow doesn't know how to apply them correctly.Clear that with AP. Spider wrap is stupidly easy to remove if you know how. Handing guests high dollar - high theft items like Ipads and Smart Watches, even if wrapped, from a locking case and letting them walk away without paying for them will be a painful slap on the wrist if they end up getting stolen.
Our AP-ETL likes to double and triple secure items. It'd ridiculous. I understand the phones being on security pegs, but using the peg clips and wraps on top of that? Hot damn. Same with the fitbits. It looks bad and some morons wrap them too tight and ruin the packaging.
oh wait! I need a magnet for that. Let me show you the magnet at the boat.Electronics had a reset not that long ago, so there is still product in locked cases that has the spider wraps. Spider wraps are even easier to remove when flow doesn't know how to apply them correctly.
Spot finally figured out the fitbits in sporting goods are being taken faster than sold, the return of locking pegs are back. But, the boosters have figured out how to beat the wraps. There are few YouTube videos on how remove the wrap on a peg. We're a low risk store losing a couple fitbit a week. You better bet those spiderwraps are on tight.

Change capacities for things you are limiting on the floor. A capacity of 1 would work for that Apple stuff. Manual CAFs should be regularly dropped during those times too. It's crazy. I was doing SFQ following the electronics set and it struck me that we have HALF the inventory of product as the planograms call for because of the amount of spiderwrap and locking peg hooks being used. We aren't allowed to put more than one of any Apple product out. The out of stocks for back to college and Christmas is already making me dizzy as I think about it. Is there a way to cheat the SFQ in order to have adequate backstock to fulfill guest needs?
Of course. That's what SFQ is. My point is with regard to having adequate stock to meet the needs of the guests during what is considered to be high volume electronics sales periods.Change capacities for things you are limiting on the floor.
