I have had it.

After four years I am at my wits end. Started out well and I loved my job, but last year I transferred to another store and things have been sliding downhill ever since.

This place is nothing more than a high school. Run by a bunch of sexist women who have driven off more decent people than they have managed to retain.

The one that got me to really take a long hard look was when a fellow TL wanted to move up to senior. He was well qualified and knew Target inside and out. They told him that he needed a degree in order to be a SRTL! Then three weeks later they hire a woman off the street with no retail experience and NO DEGREE to fill the SRTL position. Since then I have watched them pass up men and hire women for once vacancy after another. If you are a blonde haired woman between the ages of 23 and 30, you can get a job here as an ETL or TL. All others need not apply. Only guys I have seen come in are transfers like myself.

Now because I am not part of the ETL/TL cheerleader squad I am left out of many important announcements and other information. Then they try and coach me for information I was never given. My ETL drinks 3-5 energy shots every morning and then gets upset with no one is bouncing off the walls the way she is. I swear she is on more than energy drinks the way she acts. I tell her something and she does not hear it, then gets after me for not communicating.

This is the same ETL who warned me about paying attention during a conference call. Then during the call, she is texting and playing games with another ETL across the table.

Argh!

Got a couple apps in and I am sure to get at least a couple offers with my experience. Cannot wait to get outta here. They can hire another cheerleader to take my place.

sounds like my store, our old STL ran the store great had a solid ETL team backing him, when he retired we got a younger female STL who has driven out along with the DTL 2-3 seasoned ETLs that knew what they were doing (HR in particular was amazing at her job) now we have several cheer leader ETLs who wont listen to anybody who has been with the company for any amount of time and knows what they are talking about, changing processes that work for things that arent working and taking 2-3 hours longer than the old way.

our entire flow team is fed up with the new ETLs we have overnight we've lost most of the TMs we had that actually did their share of the work probably more than their fair share due to unreal expectations.

We have had several TMs with potential to become a TL told they arent good enough and not even given an opertunity to interview with the DTL (myself who was a former specialist and told I would make a great TL by my ETL at the time as well as another TM who had been a TL at their old store) so nobody even bothers to apply internally anymore

Got a job at another retailer. Last day at Target was today.

Got a job that is the equal to the ETL position and no degree is required. They look for experience and not how much you spent on college.

Better hours, better pay, no taking orders from cheerleaders.

Congratulations.
Take care and don't be a stranger.
Always good to hear about folks who do better.

I have today it really makes me sad to read of stores going so bad
I have unfortunately noticed this as a trend sadly enough.

It's better to move-on than to get sick over things you can't control congrats on your new job
Bilder!!!! I hope when you look back upon you experience with Target you think fondly of the good and the experience pints earned in life :0)

Well, I have been gone six months now. Best move I have ever made.

Love the new job and have been promoted as well. Sure makes a difference when your know how and experience are valued rather than ignored. I am on track to be managing my own store in a couple years. This is the same guy that Target told was not leadership material because I do not have a degree. More money, less stress, better hours. Yeah, I am happy here. :)

As for the Target that I left (Medford Oregon if you are curious), the STL is no longer there and a few more TL's left shortly after I did. That store chewed through more TL's and ETL's than I thought was possible. Nice to see the STL was shown the door (she left for her modeling career is the line they used). They finally found a replacement for my job a couple weeks ago. They have been without a logistics or flow TL for 6 months now. I just pray that the new TL will make it. With the junkie they have for an ETL in that area, I have my doubts.

If you are thinking of leaving Target.....you have nothing to fear. There is life after spot, you just need to go out and find it.
