California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, New Hampshire, and Washington State all have laws that require work hours do not span longer than 5 hours at a time. Some of those states have a stipulation that the shift must be longer than 6 hours for this law to be in place. On the other hand, Minnesota has some pretty lax laws:

"Sufficient unpaid time for employees who work 8 consecutive hours or more. Rest periods of less than 20 minutes may not be deducted from total hours worked. Coffee breaks and snack time not to be included in meal period."
