I rejoined target 3 months ago and I have not regretted it since. I initially quit the first time because I was having issues with management and how things were handled. I decided to give Target another chance and I have landed in a good store. My ap team consists of my etl-ap and senior tps with myself and another as tps. My etl is amazing as she's approachable and handles our issues very well. The rest of my team is awesome! Not only that but most of the etl's at the store are pretty good. My store is somewhat low risk but we still get recoveries and such. I enjoy working with my team that coming to work is fun. My etl-ap was thinking of promoting me to senior but due to other commitments I have I had to turn it down but still keeping it in mind. Our store still has its issues just like any other store but we do a good job at resolving them. I wish our hours weren't being cut but things happen.

Most of the time I work by myself because I close a lot. I try my best to get recoveries and I usually do pretty good. However when my team is there, we handle business! Our store team has faith in us and we're proud of that. In my time at this store I have had to handle many verbal disputes, kicking out disruptive guests, responded and assisted the fire department with an arson fire on the building perimeter and backing up one of the etl's with escorting a guest out of the store because they were harrasing her. My role as a tps is in my opinion the best position to be in the store. It is a unique position and I cannot see myself ever returning to store side. I just wanted to share my thoughts and experiences because I enjoy the store I am at and my team. I worked at 4 different targets before but my current store is the best! 🙂

Thanks! I really enjoy the store I'm at. My etl-ap is one of the sweetest person I have ever met. She tells me I'm doing good. I'm one of the few who actually likes working at target! Lol.

We do like working at spot, but payroll & benefits cuts hurts all of us, the most.

Yeah that hurts everyone with the benifits cut. Luckily my full-time job I have benefits and such, and Target is my part-time job but I have no benefits there. I still enjoy going to work though. 🙂

Yeah I read a lot of those and not enough positive threads. I gave an appreciation letter to my team and my etl-ap was the first to read it. She loved it! I lucked out with having such an awesome team I'm so happy. Just last night I had to kick out another guest who was approaching guests and talking random things they even tried to hug a team member! Lol! I made the decision to ask the guest to leave due to scaring guests and making the store team members uncomfortable. Good thing he left and listened to me because he was a big guy and I'm not so big. Lol.

I've been a Sr. TPS for 6 years now.. and by far-- the best position within the company! I got hired directly into the company as a TPS and haven't had any regrets since. I've passed up numerous opportunities for promotions, including TL roles, IS roles, APS roles, APTL's, ect and remained a TPS by choice! Without a doubt, it's a fantastic role with lots of personal satisfaction. Everyone I've known that chose to promote has ultimately left the company, mainly due to stress / work life balance/ unrealistic expectations. But the TPS role has the perfect balance of all, and after a few years, you start making decent money doing it (after you go PG 11 Senior & a few merit raises). But just know that eventually your ETL will go, your store will lose hours, and you will face challenging times. Just hang in there and remember that 99% of the TM's in your store WISH they had your job, so it is YOUR responsibility to act with honor, integrity, and respect for everyone. Don't be cocky, don't come off as superior, and help out where needed. YOUR success depends on your ability to partner with the store so YOU need to approachable and someone people look to for guidance, especially during emergency situations. Stay humble and be polite, you'll go far. Best of Luck!

Definitely true! My etl-ap asked if I want to train with her on being and etl. I was thinking of promoting to etl since I have my degree but I think I'm going to stay a TPS just because a lot of what she does as an etl-ap is store related stuff (backup cashier, zoning and LOD duties), and as a TPS I don't have to backup cashier and if I have to zone it's only something small. If my etl-ap ever left I would probably quit too because she is the best etl I have ever worked with! She treats me good and is always concerned about me in a good way. She even sent me home one time when I showed up for work because I had a super rough night and didn't get sleep at all it just happened to be one of those nights and she was concerned for me. I told her I was tired but I would get through the day since I was the only AP team member closing but she sent me home and said to get some sleep. She was very motherly! Unfortunately she has to do more sales floor stuff than AP stuff so she relies on us TPS's for all the AP stuff. I'm more passionate about the AP stuff (getting recoveries, reviewing footage, parking lot patrols, sales floor patrols, etc.) and it's what keeps me coming back to work every day. This job is definitely not for everyone. I am trusted by all the ETL''s and team leaders. They are the ones I interact with the most. Team members at our store always come and go but I still try to develop a rapport with them. I really enjoy my job and the people I work with. 🙂

Well when I interviewed they asked if I was interested in moving up with Target since I have a degree and past Target experience. My etl is showing me some of the things she does when we have time. Never hurts to know their job.
