Here's the thing quite simply and easy: I HATE working Sundays.

1st. Last year I was scheduled one time on Sunday (with a truck) and only worked 3 hours! from 4AM - 7AM. I felt so pissed that day because I missed a party Saturday night.

2.nd Then next Sunday they scheduled me, went it and worse than last time: 2 HOURS and a HALF! Cancelled plans with my boyfriend just to fucking go work on Sunday!

3rd time. I drove all the way to my store (45 minutes away), just to be told that they didn't need me today, so I was sent home right away, didn't go to the movies with my family on Saturday night!

After that third time, I closed my availability and told my ETL about it, so ever since then I haven't worked a Sundays , this was last year. However, they've made changes and now they're going to get trucks on Sundays. My ETL told me about it in a bad mood how I just don't like to work on Sundays , and every Saturday I'm being asked if I could work tomorrow? I simply tell them "No, I can't, sorry"

It's getting very often, one time we had a huddle and my ETL said he 'needed' everybody on Sunday because there were 2 trucks, of course I said no, but still they scheduled me, I simply told my TL I couldn't and period. I know some others who also said no. Can they retaliate or something? I mean my availability is closed on that day...

was your availability APPROVED? if not, you're out of luck. if you don't get it approved on ehr, just telling your TL won't change a thing.

Yes it was, I remember clearly last year when I saw it APPROVED

Keep saying no, make sure your avail is still updated but MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL: as soon as the schedule is posted & you see your name, start hounding them RIGHT AWAY to get your name OFF.
Reiterate that your Sundays are closed & your avail has been approved, no ifs, ands or buts.
Will it make you unpopular?
Yes, but you will be consistent & sooner or later they'll give up.

Why work retail if you want sundays off? Maybe a normal monday through friday is what you need.

With the lack of hours to schedule people, it's not like every employee is going to be scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday. So why not pick which day you have off?

Besides, a 2.5 or 3 hour shift hardly seems worth the effort, or the gas if you have more than a few minute commute.

Why let a TM change their availability to exclude Sunday's if you still sometimes need them on that day?
Exactly, this is what I don't understand. He approved it after I talked to him, now he forgot? Wut?!?

Sunday seems to be the day no one can work. For some reason at my store, they allowed a lot of TMs to be unavailable on Sundays so the GM truck doesn't go particularly well. It's not exactly your fault, but the TMs I'm throwing the hours at are going to have the availability that caters to the store. We're cracking down on the new hires having better availability so if they're any decent, seniority won't help you get those hours when they become available.

But I guess it depends on how you view the job and what it means to you. If you're just collecting the paycheck, I suppose it doesn't really matter in the end.

As you say, now they are getting trucks on Sundays. If you are a flow team member, they will want you there on truck days. You have an approved availability, and they really have to abide by it, but it means 1 less truck shift you will be scheduled for. If you don't have a particular reason to have Sundays off, (church, family obligation) perhaps you could negotiate Saturdays off instead.

Like previously stated I don't know why so many people are unavailable to work Sundays. It's like that at my store too. If your Sundays are unavailable, keep reminding your TL and ETL until they take you off and like several others stated before, don't wait till the last minute to tell them either. I do know that if they really wanted to be jerks, your TL or ETL can do an availability override and change it but no one does it.

If your availability is closed for that day then, no. They cannot react in any way other than personally not liking you. But Joel, serious note here. Target seems to give you a lot of issues. Only letting you work for 2 hours? That's insane to me and abusive of mgmt in my opinion. That's such an insult and I am on your side by not wanting to help them when they need it because from your previous stories it seems they do not try to help you. Keep your head up and possibly look for another job bud.

Omg if only you knew... I'm actually on that. Who wants to to stay at my horrible store with its trash management it has?

It can be like that, I have seen your situation before. It seems that Target is looking for spur of the moment availability. And than I see some TM's with no problem having specific days off. They're the ones that seem to have been there more than 5 years.

Seems like you closed availability because of the hours. Maybe discuss the problem with your TL why you hate workimg on Sundays. If your store changed your truck schedule, I'm sure they'll have enough hours on Sundays compared to the other times you were scheduled.

If you're really unavailable on Sundays, make sure to let them know right away! I'd normally take TMs out of that shift if it's against their availability. However, there are TLs/ETLs that will ask you to find someone that can cover for you and will refuse to remove you. If they don't take you out of the schedule, make sure to call out on that day because they'll mark you as a NCNS. If they keep scheduling you out of your availability, I would definitely reach out to your ETL-HR and let them know what's happening before they fire you for calling out too much/NCNS.
