Archived Negotiating Vacation Time

Hi, all,

I may be getting an offer for ETL, and I was wondering how flexible they are on vacation time. I hear ETL's get 3 weeks per year, but I get 5 at my current job. I know they'll negotiate salary, but wasn't sure about benefits.

Is Target's starting salary higher than what you get paid now?

If yes, then that's why you won't get as much vacation as your current job.

If no, then you need to seriously look at why you are considering taking a shitty job with less benefits and pay than what you have now.

You can probably get them to go higher on salary to compensate for the lack in vacation hours, because they won't be able to budge on the vacation.

Vacation is set in stone.

Just figure out what you would have gotten paid for those 2 weeks and add it to your salary to compensate.

Don't think you can negotiate this. I am an ETL but was promoted internally. You could always try, the worse they will say is no. Or perhaps you could ask for more dollars if they say no to the time.

It's 2 weeks, not 3. 2 weeks until 5 years. 3 weeks til 10 years, then 4.
