The ear pieces are for people who have a walkie (Guest Service, Sales Floor, Cart Attendant) and want to be able to hear the walkie over the noise of the crowd around the store. Chances are since you're a cashier you most likely won't need a walkie unless it's different at other stores.

Every cashier but me feels the entitlement to grab a walkie and MyDevice at my store lol. It's funny when the ETL asks where they all went and every cashier with them on their personal immediately turns away and pretends to not hear her. But frustrating when I'm taken off to do a job in the store that I need to have a walkie with atleast JUST in case to back up, but noo the cashiers that are sitting on a lane for their entire shift have to hog all the equipment for no reason, and I'm surprised no one's cracked down on it yet.

Cashier training is cashier training-- not computer/eHR training (at least at my store)

True however there are some computer trainings for cashier's such as the ladder training and alcohol sales quiz.

How quickly and urgently your store ask you to complete these seems to vary from store to store.

What the fuck are they gonna do with walkies and mydevices? Cashiers at my store know better than to grab shit they don't need. My STL would tear asses if she caught cashiers taking stuff.

Yeah at my store GSA/GSTL get one and ETL Guest Experience if he is there. That's it although one of our Self checkout folks always tries to steal one lol

Probably because they feel powerful with the two combined lol. My leaders are aware and have talked and put signs up, but for now it just seems like it's the cashiers that grab them that most often get selected to do work on the floor and expect to have to go do that and don't wanna run back in when it's time.

It's kind of annoying because I feel I'm 100% more capable to do the job because I don't do it to get off the lanes because I'm bored and wanna hang out and gossip with the other lady cashiers that are out working with you on a office supply pull that shouldn't take more than 5 minutes but it takes 15 because they're like "hao do i wirk tis mydevice" and fuck around.

Lets just say, entitled cashiers really piss me off lol. I will also add I can see why SCO and GS desk might grab them, a walkie is a given. My GSTLs and GSAs don't pay enough attention to the SCOs at all and sometimes we need to walkie them if something comes up or we need a MyDevice to figure out a guest problem and there isn't a GSA in sight and you have enough experience to be able to know you're right.

Well we don't sell alcohol at my store so that's one down.

Also, I plan on asking my trainer this but isnt there a limit to the amount of coupons a guest can use? And is that limit on the type of item itself or for the whole transaction?
I believe it's one store coupon and one manufacturer coupon per item and that's for up to 4 items for transaction however if I'm wrong someone please correct me hah

Coupon policy is one manf., one target, and One Cartwheel per item. HOWEVER, some coupons say "only one per purchase" so watch that.

If you ever feel uncomfortable, just blink your light and just say "sorry, I need to get my manager to approve this coupon". Let the GSA of GSTL decide.

Hi!!! I start my very first day of training Tuesday and I found this website so I thought I would put my miserable amount of questions here if anyone would like to help.

• I was only given a schedule of two training days (I'm a cashier) at orientation so does that mean I will be on the schedule for the week after? and is that all the training I will get?

• During orientation, it was mentioned that asking for a day off could be done online but we never got to that. (I don't need to, I just would like to know for future reference.)

• Will they train me about the red cards? Because I know we have to ask, and I know it will save the guest 5% however that is literally everything I know about them and I don't want to have some miracle of someone agreeing to sign up and I don't know anything about it to answer their question.

• When I go in Tuesday, what do I do?! Our store opens at 8 and I'm supposed to be there at 8. So therefore if I get there at 8 when they unlock the doors, and don't clock in til 8:01/02 is that going to count as me being late? Also, do I clock in or do I have to get my name tag first? Will they take me to my trainer?

I worry a lot, and I stress myself out easily so any help/advice would be so appreciated. Thank you in advance!
Training hours are just allocation of hours. Hopefully a GSTL/GSA will set you up on a training register and give you the cashier training book to learn. Your training schedule is just a temporary schedule until your store can add you to the actual schedule and payroll system. It may take a couple schedules before you show up. Just ask your TLs about your schedule they may give you more days.

Until you are added to the scheduling system, check with your ETLs and TLs about scheduling a day off. For one thing for certain, you have to set up your profile in store before accessing it from home.

Check with your Cashier trainer/GSTLs/GSAs about Red Card things. The debit and credit versions. But best thing is to solicit every guest about the Red Card. Even candy and soda guests. Skip minors.

If you are opening, you want to arrive 10-15 minutes early so you can get through the door. Your store may leave a walkie in the breezeway, buzz you in through the TMSC door, or have you use the front door buzzer. Being new, make sure you have your new hire forms or your temporary badge to let them know you are new. But for clocking in, your store may not want you to clock in until exact 8:00. Just ask if they want you to go ahead and clock in on arrival.

If you have a question just ask. Don't guess or wait.

Cashiering is easy. Just need to get in the flow.

ASANTS, at my store everyone had to line up at the clock and wait until it turned the exact time for the first person in line to clock in.
😱

We clock in 5 mins early. Some people clock in 4 mins late every shift. Either are fine with our leaders. I always clock in 5 mins early...in my usual 4 day work week that's 20 extra minutes of paid time. 😎

Me too. When I'm Operator I prefer to get my equipment and clocked in very fast so that I can be at fitting room to hand off with the previous operator within the next minute so we can work together for the next four minutes for the transition. Our fitting room can get hectic!!

You are literally my favorite person right now. I have a friend who works at Target (he stocks and hasn't been trained on a register yet) but he has given me really vague answers to my questions or doesn't have an answer because he has a different position. But bless you. I'm gonna screenshot this so I'll remember these questions and these tips.

I'm very familiar with WIC, because we do it where I am now so maybe that part will be an easy transition at least.

Also, I plan on asking my trainer this but isnt there a limit to the amount of coupons a guest can use? And is that limit on the type of item itself or for the whole transaction?

At our store coupons are limited to 4 identical coupons per day/household. We are not allowed to use the no bar code function if an item does not have a tag/numbers. Check with your GSA/GSTL on your stores policy.

You will have to complete some computer training. It don't really teach you anything about cashiering, one is for alcohol sales and one is about hazardous materials.

Ask HR or your TL on how to set up your password for eHR (it will be the same as workbench where you complete your computer training).

Cashiers usually do not have a walkie or an ear piece. At our store only the GSA/GSTL and Guest Service TM wear an ear piece at the front end.

You will be taught how to sign people up for red cards, it's a very simple process. The guest does most of the work lol. Pretty soon your life will revolve around red cards. Just make sure to "educate" every single guest about the red card. The GSAs and GSTL are making notes of who is asking and who is not asking.
