Because it's one area you are pretty much helpless in surveilance.

It's kind of unfair to the fitting room folks to put them on this.

I always wondered why multiple tps stores don't stick someone in fitting room rather than having them standing at the door checking receipts
During busy times I will put a TPS near the fitting room. We aren't "supposed" to deny entry to fitting rooms but we can make people feel extremely uncomfortable.

I however will not have my TPS answering phones or folding clothes. I need them to be able to walk away if needed.

I don't have a TPS :( We had $1600+ tags found in the fitting room the past two weeks.

Just being there is good. Freaky stuff can happen there. There's been a time or two that I was seconds away from asking AP for a babysitter for me.

we've had this in my store for a couple of weeks now, and it sucks. big time. not the locks, just the white boards. and asking for peoples names is painfully awkward, and people look at you like you're crazy. there's no time to sort when you're walking back and forth to write names down and switching numbers when they switch out items. and taking calls at the same time? lol. people still steal. maybe even more now since the fr operator is all over the place and frazzled all the time (me at least). also new at my store the operator can't leave at all and someone needs to be back there at all times. we'll see how this goes. it's not going well so far. it's way more cluttered now and we're supposed to be clutter free. hahahahahahah.

Seeing them try to implement this at my store would be hilarious because they just don't have the payroll for anyone to be standing by the fitting rooms counting and doing all that shit. They stopped giving a crap about FR after we stopped handing the numbers out a little over a year ago. Not to say we don't have theft because we do..in one month, over $3000 of merchandise was stolen in there, but any intent to stop or curb that was never shown at all.

We don't even have anyone in the fitting room until after 9.

This entire restructuring is complete nonsense. We don't have enough people to work softlines properly, but we won't schedule the people we do have full shifts. We're told we're short staffed but multiple people who have open availability aren't being scheduled 40 hours. WTF is going on?

And that's totally reasonable. I could see it being a huge deterrent to fitting room theft though if they are guest servicing folks. At Marshalls i have seen L.P. at the fitting room

Which is too bad. A good vigilant TPS can make such an impact in cosmetics/fitting room rather than standing at the door

Today we were informed we will be getting locking doors for all fitting rooms and white boards for each one. We will have to walk the guest in unlock a room and then write their name on the board and how many items they have. On top of that we uave to write thsir name and items they have on a corresponding list on the fr desk. . .suffice it to say oir team is a bit thrown. Im excited for the locking doors but the rest of it not so much. Is this a corporate thing?
Are doors can be looked and should be locked when we are open We also have command hooks on each door and put a number 1 card on the door when we let someone in a room.

To do that, they basically would have to schedule an extra person for all shifts. But after the end to my day, I'm all for that. Nothing like clearing the fitting rooms of all clothes, go put away some reshop and fold a few tables, come back and clear the fitting rooms again.....and find four tags stuffed into the pocket of the lone pair of pants in one of the fitting rooms. Grrrr.

A board would also help when friends and relatives bring in more clothes to the person trying them on. I can do pretty good with X went in with the guest, Y were added by Mom, Z were taken out by Mom, so the guest should come out with A, IF there's only a couple of people back there and only one has friends/relatives helping. Get half the rooms filled or two groups doing that, I have some difficulty with tracking the numbers. Being able to write "4+2-3" without scrounging for scrap paper or needing to walk away while the clothes flow is still going would be a benefit, if they do schedule a dedicated FR person.

But I doubt that the hours will ever be allocated to get that extra person without taking away from the rest of SL.

Is this a corporate thing?

Nope. This is a "your store seems to have problems with fitting room theft" thing.

But don't feel bad. It's like that everywhere.

I see the locking doors.

It has to be item count. Names would freak people out.

I agree. Instead of names, I'd suggest writing the time.

Writing it down and escorting guests to locked rooms is basically an accountability booster for team members and a subtle hint/reminder to guests that the team has their eyes on the situation.

But it also offers opportunities for guest-servicing and pushing sales, so there is that.

This is a much better idea Im gonna run it by my apetl and see if we can do that instead.

Even more changes at our fr which we are NOT happy with. They took our big garbage can and gave us this tiny bathroom can -_- on top of that we will no longer be allowed to have carts for reshop it is all to be put under the desk in some storage system. . .our desk barely fits a persons legs. . .what the heck has gotten into them this is insane. Add to that we are now made to keep our racks in our frs. . .um ok. . .and we arent allowed to use "morning teams" big zracks even if reshop os overflowing. This is going to be a nightmare bts season -_-

We end up with a zbar full of just swim reshop on busy days.

We try to avoid using zbars, but sometimes we have to when we are under staffed.

We always use z racks for swim and rtw. Metrocarts (the smaller rolling rack with the basket on bottom) for the other depts. At least one 4-tiered zrack left at the end of every day for swimwear. 1.5-2 of rtw at least.

Some high risk high volume stores end up with two fitting room folks.

They started giving us a second person doing a mid shift from thurs-sunday but whoever decided on the time for them to work was being silly. It's too early. They're calling that person the fitting room g.e. They're expected to do the "guest experience" portion of the job. Supposed to walk people to their rooms, get other sizes if needed, fix the stuff they don't want. The other person is phones and trying to keep up with the service desk carts. So far the other person is either doing reshop or they're doing the SD carts that have built up because they come so quickly.

They do the white board thing at like lane Bryant. They don't just ask your name though. It's a smaller store and I believe they have sales goals. So they're like trying to get personal as they help you shop... And they check up on you like "how'd everything going, Liza, would you like to try that in another size or color?" To me it comes off very excessive but idk if other shoppers like that kinda stuff. I know it won't work in my store either way though. SL turnover is getting crazy with all the changes lately

The best fitting room experience I had was at a Tilly's, they write your name on the door and will be like "I found this super cute dress for you" and hand it over the door and they will like shop for you while you're in the room. I know it's their job but it's like shopping with a good friend lol
The WORST is American Eagle. The doors don't lock and they have no way to identify if a room is in use, so they knock and then immediately open the door before you even have a chance to respond. I get walked in by employees at least twice every time I try something on. They also have these buttons that you can press that I guess if you need a new size someone will come and get it for you, but my first time I didn't know what it was so I thought since there was no locks you press it and that's how they know someone was in there. Nope. Someone opened the door and was like "what do you need" like omg. I hardcore stress every time.
Also Hollister fitting rooms suck. It's just a super small room with a curtain, no door. So it always feels like it's open on the sides and people can see me. And it's so small the only thing in there is a mirror, there's no where to put or hang up the clothes? You have to put them on the floor???? I don't understand why anyone thought that was okay lol

Omg. Something happened to FR doors at my store years ago. I guess maybe something with the hinges or something. Idk I'm not handy. The doors just shut when you let them go so sometimes we have lines because we don't realize that people are waiting for empty rooms to become free. And sometimes I knock and they're silent so then I push and there are people who haven't locked the freaking door and I hate it. I prop the doors open with the stools. I hate it.

I hope this doesnt stick then. Our operator generally ends up zoning baby O active hosery mens and half of rtw not the mention mens to. . .I dont see how this works unless we get a callbox for the desk :/ and our operators leave at 5 or 6 we ha ent had a closer in months
We're also getting the locks at our store at some point. Our ap tm told us there's going to be a motion sensor installed into the side of the fitting room's desk that sets off some kind of chime when someone sets it off. That way we know someone likely needs a room when we aren't there.

I'm
Or Target can stop being cheap and just pay someone to stay at the fitting room.

People don't realize how much stuff gets stolen out of fitting rooms.

Fitting room still has their own hours allocated to them, mytime schedules coverage and overlapping coverage. Your store is manually changing that.

I love this idea. I would rather get number tags that they take and have to pass in, but it's overall a super smart move on targets part. If you're store is running the way style is suppose to be you should have someone there ALL day, not only that but this person should be greeting guests and offering to get various sizes and building genuine connections.

If someone physically counts your clothes and then writes down the number and counts at the end- most people aren't going to risk it. Most people don't know what we as a store can actually do, so why risk it?

It'll deter theft some, but not completely. All it takes it's getting that new size for someone watching for a coverage break to get in, hide clothes and leave before the FRO gets back with the new size.

Two problems

A) mytime does not account for multi level stores with Two fitting rooms.

B) its not as simple as just handing out tickets. Most fitting room folks have to also answer phones, sort reshop and assist with sizing issues.

No offense but you speak like someone who has never been to the fitting room.
