Hi guys! This is my first ever post and I was hoping to get some clarity or advice on this situation. I currently work at a Target and I've been trying to get my friend to get rehired after she got fired last year, I've looked through reddit posts and other community posts, but I haven't been able to find anything that answers my question.
She previously worked at the same target last year in september but she got fired in december (within her 90 days) for 'productivity' reasons. As she's told me, she had called off three times-- once in november (accidentally slept in), and twice in december (first time was genuinely got sick, as in literal throwing up and fever, and second time her manager didn't process her request, despite the fact she had requested that day as unpaid time a week before and this day was important for her), this ended up in her getting fired on the 31st of december.
This to me, was EXTREMELY weird because during my 90 days I had also called off 3 times, and been late once and since I've gotten hired full-time, I've called off a total of 7 times and I haven't even hit a year yet.
But anyways, recently, our target started hiring people again, she submitted an application again--a whole year later and 9 months after she got fired. She got in whilst using a different email for a completely different shift than the one she was previously on, she had her orientation date set, but 3 hours after she submitted her background check, she received another email saying, "based on information regarding your employment status with Target, we are unable to consider you for a position at this time"..
Does this mean she's marked in the system as a 'non re-hire'? if so, is it possible to come back from that, or is this permanent?
She didn't do anything wrong, and her third call off was due to manager negligence because she didn't even process her request, and it was an extremely important date for her, hence why she requested the day in ADVANCE. (it wasn't even approved or rejected, just pending, there was also numerous complaints about her throughout the department about her never accepting requests, this manager no longer works at our target).
Would she be better off calling HR and trying to fix this, or is it just a lost cause? I'm not exactly sure how a rehire status works, but i don't think someone should be marked as a non-rehire permanently because of this
