Question about vacancies

When positions open up at the store, be it TL, TM, are the jobs supposed to be posted somewhere in the store?

Theoretically, yes. In practice, ASANTS, sometimes they are posted, sometimes they aren’t. The fact that an opening is posted is not a guarantee that the lucky (?) winner hasn’t already been chosen...

When there was a recent opening at our store, it was posted and names were taken for interviews and those tm's applied online. Then TM's who signed up for interviews were called in to be told that there would be no interviews since the job had already been filled by an outside applicant (who happened to be a friend of HR). It was a great lesson in nepotism.
