Question for ETLs at stores with no SD.

I’m an inbound ETL and My store is in between SDs so we essentially report directly to our DSD and because of that, a lot of my communication is done via email or phone call. We would routinely discuss daily plans, expectations, etc but my DSD would often tell me they would be watching/monitoring the team throughout the night/early morning on the security cameras to ensure we were executing as planned and would document performance accordingly if they deemed it necessary. I always thought this was a little odd so I’m just curious if any other ETL had any experience with something like this?

Not an ETL, but that strikes me as odd, since I've been told numerous times that cameras are basically just meant to be used to detect theft and safety concerns, and that most misconduct witnessed on camera wasn't punishable.

ie. We had TL's who mentioned being incapable of punishing someone for loafing unless they saw it in person, and not merely on camera.

I was told the same. Cameras can’t be used against employees for anything that wasn’t “illegal”.

Years ago, I had a store go through 2 Store leadership changes, they usually had someone from another district store do 1-2 days a week at our store during the transition.

Its probably mostly a threat and not really something they are actively doing. They definitely can and do look at the cameras but they are not just sitting there watching. Maintain safety concerns and you'll be good. They probably just check in like beginning of the day and check before they go home to check progress. As for being punished through cameras we definitely dont do that through the store but they can make up there own rules.
