That is there way of making up for not having actual sit down chats with the TMs which HR is supposed to do but nowadays they don't want to schedule because they don't have enough people on the floor to cover.
They will stand behind you while you try to work and ask you inane questions about the company.
It depends a lot on how you want to be perceived by the company as to how you answer those questions.
Being brutally honest might mean you will have little chance of getting promoted.
Taking a breath before you say something, tempering your answers and being aware that HR is not on your side will mean you will be fine.
