Just curious,

After my 90 days is that when I can request a pay raise or even a promotion? By then I'll have met the experience and education requirements for a job at my local IC (assuming there's a vacancy at that time).

I know I'm totally tooting my own future-horn but by the time my 90 days are up I'll have been nothing less than a stellar performer with an excellent record. I'm very confident in my abilities but not to the point where I can't learn. But like I said, by day 90 I intend to ask for a promotion to a position at an IC as either an Investigator or Investigations Technician, maybe Investigative Specialist.

I'm just curious, if it's within the regs than I'll ask. The worst they can do is say no, I highly doubt they would reward my ambition with a termination. I'm not so sure about the raise though. From what I've heard at my location and from what I've read here the raises are disgustingly insulting. If I request a raise I'd be asking for at least 2 dollars more, .25 cents is just...wow..

Thanks in advance for any answers or advice yall got!

There's a better chance of the Stay Puft Marshmallow man doing the Gangnam Style dance on top of a dragon

LMFAO.

Hey I might get lucky who knows, I don't think it's impossible unless I'm wrong and somewhere it's written that anyone just outside day 90 can get one of those things lol

I was top performer twice before my 90 days was up. They've been talking about grooming me for TL since I hit 30 days. Believe me, you aren't getting a raise or a promotion come your 90 days. Heck, consider yourself lucky to even see your evaluation.

Was told IC positions are different from spot positions. Also Was told from the IC, they wanted people to be in role for 6 months before an attempt at promoting.

90 days just means 90 days. It just means that Target likes your performance enough to keep you on a permanent basis. And that they will have to find a good reason to let you go. They may give you a small raise at you 90 day if you are beyond outstanding.

Target believes of giving raises at their own discretion upon their view of what a typical or outstanding TM performance should be. At review times, stores are allocated so many outstanding scores. And those scores are given at a subjective view. You can view yourself as outstanding and drink the kool-aid; write a handful of GTC or whatever VIBE comments are now everyday, take extra shifts, never complain, communicate with ETLs and TL, and CIHYFS every guest you see. But your Target and TL might not see this, and will give those outstanding scores to someone else.

They view asking for raises or promotions as...why should we give you a raise when we can find someone else can do the same thing for base pay. Promotion are not asked for...you have to apply for them, get interviewed, and kiss a lot butt to get one now.

Only pay raises you will ever see is at your year review and it will be disappointing. Only way to get a promotion is to apply for it when they post it, be sure to kiss *** allot before applying for it though.

Good luck with that. I started seasonal last year & I've been one of the top sales floor performers for most of this last year. I've was chosen as a top performer for multiple areas due to my work ethic. Did I get a raise? Yes.......the same pocket change the rest of the TM's get. I did win some cool little prizes though for being so great! ;)

To put it into perspective, I'm still (to this day) one of the top performers store-wide (& I'm definitely not tooting my own horn--I just do my job & do what it takes to get it down & get the heck out each day).......I have different areas wanting to have me on their team (at least 4, 5 if you include softlines--for some reason, the ladies love me over there).......& I still got that same raise. Team Lead meetings have been discussing me & my hard work & I've been told I should try for TL because they feel I'm more than ready for something like that. Nice compliment, but I'm cool with doing my thing still, without the EXTRA headache, pay increase or not.

Now, I'm not saying it won't happen for you, but it's HIGHLY unlikely. We all want great raises, but it's something you really won't see here at Spot. Love working here, just don't expect much in the way of bonuses......though you do get a few perks for being top dog, so to speak. I'm given just under 40 hours a week, so I'm good. They push to make sure I have plenty of hours, even if I'm helping out other areas instead of the usual SF. I'd say, maybe after working hard for a good 6 months to a year, MIGHT give you a slight bit of an advantage in negotiations.......but be prepared to be let down, given that they don't usually hand raises out like candy on Halloween.

On a side note, I did hear our ETL in hardlines tell a guy who was leaving that he should have talked with him about a raise (in other words, we didn't want to lose anyone else, given that we'd already lost a handful to other stores or jobs). So, it's possible it could happen, just doubtful.

this isn't always true. When i wanted to be a team lead i went to my etl and the etl-hr and told them i wanted to be a team lead and that i was ready for it. I prepped, did the interview, and sat on the bench for awhile until a position opened up. A gsa in our store is doing the same thing right now.

officially speaking you aren't eligible for a raise until your annual review. You can certainly reach out to your supervisor or manager to see how soon you might be eligible for a promotion or if there is such a thing as a performance based wage increase during the work year before the annual review increase. I wouldn't count on it, but it doesn't hurt to try or ask
