Returns off merchandise card

Does anybody know a way to return an item if the guest used a merchandise card to pay with it and they don’t have the receipt but do have the merchandise card? I know you can lookup a gift cards receipt but is there a way to do that with a merchandise card?

Have the guest call the number on the card or use the register for look up. depending if they are using the right gift card.

You should be able to scan the merch card for receipt look-up &, if the item is located, continue on to the return.
Returns will go back onto the merch card, of course.

When you scan the merchandise card it gives some error so im wondering if there are any other ways. Receipt lookup also doesn’t work when it’s scanned. I know you can with gift cards I’m just trying to find a way for merchandise cards.

Nah merchandise cards don’t provide receipt look up on purpose. They must return again against their ID or provide the paper receipt... this is not a flaw it’s a feature.

This is correct. A receipt would only provide a merch card/even exchange anyways so you have to use their ID. If you really wanna make it right you can use the number to look up the receipt in Receipt viewer but it won’t do you any good.
