Hey Guys,

So i've been reading the Forum since I joined Target about 3 Years ago. I thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone's opinion but I feel as if the time to contribute has come; especially since I have one foot out the door.

Just a little bit about myself, I have been with Target for 3 years, starting out at the Team Lead level, then ETL intern, then two rotations as an ETL. This has been the reason I haven't joined in on the conversation for fear of retaliation from Target (I know they read this forum).

But as the title of my thread states, " im here to whistle blow" some of the inside scoop i've seen and just the general sense of direction the company is taking recently which has alot of high level executives running to the door. My main purpose is to give insight and dispel some rumors that I constantly saw on here, but at the end of the day most ETL's feel exactly how you guys on here feel.

So a week ago I recieved a link to a survey to give feedback about the "vibe"....hahaha ok

One of the questions ask..What is one thing that would help support The Vibe in your store (new or changed)?

"My Response"
It is completely irrational to believe that store can actually "vibe" with every single guest and to actually achieve the principles of the vibe as we are completely understaffed and lack any kind of payroll. It is quite disappointing that this company tries to emulate initiatives undertaken by Nordstrom and Macy's yet fails to even come close to providing the resources "payroll" "recognition budgets" in order to achieve it. The "vibe" is widely considered a joke at your stores and a completely useless concept and attempt at providing Guest Service. It is quite sad when my local Mcdonalds has more team members than my closing team size in a high volume store.

With that being said until Target actual gives the store level payroll to achieve task the "vibe " will continue to fail.

whoa! That's a bit extreme, sorry If you took my title to bluntly im not trying to cause a store to shut down. Im not trying to close down a store or make people lose their jobs. I guess that more of my objective has been to give an insight into the world of being an etl and the watercooler talk we get". At the end of the day it would only hurt the front line folks to put target on the news.

At the end of it he states that any store that does not comply is subject to accountability...Awesome, he basically wants perfection out of his stores.

Stores are pretty good at faking numbers and because of people like you GTL they will keep on doing it. The company has to know people are faking metrics all over the place. I guess they just do not want to know what is really going on.

- Stores are great at Faking numbers. thats the only way TL and ETLs can keep their jobs, and ofcourse if your numbers slip your DTL and STL will meet with you and either pressure or encourage you to apply said cheat. Its a terrible domino effect where many of my etl friends ask what point are we going to get to. Since some day we all know they will clean house and blame more than likely the TL's- or ETLs for acting unethically but all they are doing is trying to keep from drowning.....

Just for an example recently a Regional level partner was fired for metrics and he was a strong advocate against doing unethical activities. Store Communications two months ago sent emails out warning against fraudulent redcard apps, everyone basically laughed at it because it stated that you had to be seen doing the action by your DTL, who would be dumb enough to do so.

yup hr usually keys trainings, changes times to avoid compliance, deletes people of the schedule to avoid it hitting absent percentages, adds fakes shifts to avoid getting dinged on out on time!.

So theres alot of information regarding the elimination of certain positions at the store level
-Elimination of Food Business Partners
-Further reduction of the Operations ETL
- Reducing the amount of stores which qualify for an ETL-ge
- Completely combining the SBTL +FATL into FTL
-Reduction of TL positions into more specialist, or spreading workload to other teams.

SBTL n FATL already happened at some stores. Are they bringing back specialists? Or are they just giving a motivated TM more resposibility w/out compensation?

-Further reduction of the Operations ETL

this interests me as our store got a new ETL-Ops this year but have never had one in the past and have not heard of a non Super-T having one, makes me wonder if its a ploy from HQ to phase out our STL? theres rumors the STL is getting fired soon, so could our Ops be in place to learn the store before moving into the STL position later, the Ops was not added at the time of AE2013 it was mid year which I also found odd

Wanna bet on the latter? I bet I'd make a fortune.

I know the faking compliance numbers. For months at one of my stores, I would get scheduled 5 1/2 hour shifts right exactly till FA closing. Yet the GSTLs and ETLs would never give me a lunch because my shift said 5.5 hours. Yet it took 30minutes or more to close my FA to expectations. I usually had to run to the time clock just a minute or seconds of hitting the 6th hour. Then while off the clock, I would have to wait 5-10minutes for the ETL to walk up and do their FA check and turn in keys.

Some times they told me to come in 10-15 minutes late just to give me a little more time to close.

During Christmas, FA was taking over an hour to close because of cleaning and prepping for the next day. There where times, I told my GSTL, I about to hit 6 no matter what, and I need to get.

Gets me all excited for an AE14 rumors thread

We are a 4.0 group too.

Are you in a group/district that has check-free debit REDcard applications?

My store has an awful looking fixture room. Big set weeks (BTS, p-fresh reinvention, pets) leave it a wreck until the next light workload week.

I'm sure many can relate to all the fake ties that happen as well.

Backroom location accuracy- Ghost Green

$65M store. 10k sq.ft. of backroom space. No offsite, no third-party, no container, no auxiliary storage of any kind.

Yeah, we'll get RIGHT ON THAT green-only accuracy. Our GTL can kindly hold his breath while we do so. It'll work out.....trust me......

Still waiting for some actual WHISTLEBLOWING. The water cooler talk that you speak of...guess what, it's water cooler talk in all of the stores already. It doesn't take a genius to see what direction our company is headed in....this is just the beginning folks....

Why would anyone use this website to whistleblow? I assumed it would be hints and "water cooler talk" when I clicked on the title. If it was actual whistleblowing, I'd expect the thread to be purged of details and locked with references to the appropriate people to contact to do some actual (constructive?) whistleblowing.
