My store has gotten a little carried away with the vibe. I am wondering if it's just my store or if anyone else has this problem.... So since the vibe rollout the phrase vibe it out has become synonymous with our store leadership not wanting to interact with difficult situations. Price match an item without checking the source? Vibe it out and cut that Dyson price in half. Paid and left that ap verified the guest actually left with? Vibe it out and give them the items. Guest bought a ps4 six months ago and it just now broke, no box and no receipt? Vibe it out and give them a new one. Guest dropped money in the store and no one saw anything? Vibe it out and give them a gift card. I'm all for giving good service but this seems a little extreme.

Sounds like leadership doesn't give a fuck. Whatever it takes to keep them from having to actually interact with the unwashed masses.

Our LOD's would all take the PS4, they wouldn't care because we CRC it and get fully reimbursed.

I want to agree. But let's assume Target didn't sell it. Let's assume it was stolen from Walmart. Are you saying we would still get reimbursed for it even though it never came out of our inventory? That seems odd.

Yes, we'd still get reimbursed from the manufacturer. It came from them, whether it came from Target doesn't matter to them.

Rather silly to equate something you lost the receipt for as being stolen.

It was an example. Why in the world would the average person try to return something six months later, no box, no receipt. That seems silly also. Return it to the manufacturer directly. Or the should have bought a service plan.

The other night the GSTL 'vibed' a $20 GiftCard for a woman who threw a tantrum over the promo signs being unclear. The promo was for a $10 GiftCard -- she grabbed the wrong items -- and we gave her an extra $10 "for the delay." This GSTL pulls the 'vibe' with frequency. Doesn't even bother with apology coupons anymore, just GiftCards $5+.

They haven't cared for a long time. As long as the guest is happy, Spot would give away the whole store, and make up for it by stealing more hours from team members.

its happened. i have seen a 2 year old tv come back, but atleast they had the box. I am glad my lods don't vibe everything out. next thing you know they will be vibing out the shoplifters.

My STL put it in a good sense for me. He told me to first try to see if they have a receipt with a "RedCard YTD savings" on it and see how much they shop using that card. For my store, the average guest who is loyal to Target spends 10k per year on product. Vibing helps us retain these guests. He basically said "If you have to give away $10, $50, or even $100 to keep a guest shopping who spends 5-10k a year at Target and not a competitor, then it's worth it." However, we are militant on guests who are CLEARLY abusing policies like coupon policies and fraud.

The average normal person with a rational brain wouldn't return it. However a "entitled soul sucking customer", who has been trained like a two year old who throws a tantrum to get what they want will return it. Because stores have caved to every whim and have seen every rule broken cause they bitched "the customer is always right"

And worse spot has advertised that we will be the sucker that will give people money for nothing. Spot has turned their rep into a joke.

You can say no, and keep your business growing. What happens when you do that the scammers just go to Wal-Mart first.

Yes, this is happening at my store as well. Let's just give the entire store away!
Guests say a 49.99 item was on the shelf for 24.99. "Just do it" is what I've been told. Who cares that it was in the wrong spot under the wrong label? No one.
I like to ask the gstl first but usually they just give the guest whatever they ask for so what's the point? I'm sure guests are on to this by now.
Makes me sick. I have a 401k to protect, ya know? Those are profits going out the door.

Tonight, I was playing babysitter on the self checkouts. A woman tried to pay with a prepaid Target American Express when the register shut down during the payment process. I explained several times that nothing had gone through and would re-ring her order. She was not having it. She started screaming at me, the GSTL and another cashier who was trying to help. Our ETL-GE noticed the fuss and came over. After hearing the situation, she thought for a minute and just told the guest to take it and that she would eat the cost. The order was about $60. The best part is she could have called AP once she started screaming since they were in the store but she didn't. Vibing needs to die and fast!

So this is weird- I went to target to pick up some last minute things/ rx on my way out of town for Xmas, and didn't realize I was over charged somehow ( really unclear on how this happened on not one item, but THREE!!) by having the item I bought show up as 4x each - ie: Box of nuts x 4 then hickory farms pack x4, then cat food x2- when I actually purchased only ONE of each of those items. Over 60 bucks worth of extraneous charges! ( it seemed really expensive for what I was buying but so has every other purchase Ive made lately... I just figured I'd review the receipt later. ANYWAY. I finally looked it over and was blown away by the weird errors and called the store right away. They told me they'd have to review the security footage and get back to me... Which makes total sense! But... It's been two days now and I haven't hear back I AM still out of town, and they have my mobile number- but I could go to the target here, and I do have the receipt with me. it was totally their error- seems like vibe would dictate that I'd get my 62 bucks back a little faster, no? Also, I'm really curious how these items were so mis rung in The first place? Wouldn't the cashier have to hit k2 then 4 for quantity on each item? And k2 plus 2 quantity for the third item? Would there be any reason she would have done that intentionally? i cant see how she'd have benefitted from over charging my redcard for items I didn't purchase. Will they be able to see that I did not make those purchases on the video? I hope so!!!

Not really. Giving the customer what they want makes them consume more. Target is very diligent about keeping their guests most of the time especially since that "we were too cheap to spend enough on cyber attacks" fiasco. For sure they lost more money at that time. If they lose profit they will just make it up by making the TM's life even more difficult and cutting hours.

With the Vibe, Target is trying to emulate high-end department stores such as Nordstrom with legendary service. Problem is we don't have the proper training, staff amount, or even clientele to pull what Nordstrom, Saks, NM, etc does. According to this, in 2012, the average Nordstrom household earns $292k a year while the average Target household is at $62k. Nordstrom pays around $12/hr average for sales (still low) while Target pays $8.88 average. Different breed of animal, different expectations from both the staff and customers; plus corp. thinking a high-end way of doing business was going to fit in with a (pseudo-)high end discount department store. While I can't prove it, I'm willing to bet a nice men's Burberry shirt that Tina and her cohorts visited high-end stores as part of research and implemented the Vibe from their experiences (I'll take a small, please.)

As a GSTL I have gotten coached for following policy and having angry guests call my STL about it later. At this point I just do whatever because I know I will have no support to follow policy or procedure anymore because I need to be "making it right for the guest". I think this is probably the case for a lot of TLs across the company.

What a shitstorm. I hate this stupid vibe crap. Makes me think "oh why deny them, unless 1 of our 4 GSAs is here nothing will get denied." Not wic-able? Override. Open video game? Override. Outside 90 days? Do it anyway. $50 price change? Oh it's fine... Now my attitude towards work is this:

Not my money I guess...this company will still pay me shit even if we suddenly increased sales by 300% overnight. So why care about those, not like I'll see any of the profit.

It was my understanding that the Tina traveled by police escort wen she was in town... Gross me out. Who would recognize her?! What could possibly have been /be a threat to her? I'm really grossed out by the target culture... I shouldn't have been surprised- but I am somehow.
I like how they totally ignore the existence if places like Costco when they go on with their anti union propagandizing... Yeah- ok, target- things are so good here for the workers- wouldn't want to screw up THAT utopian employment..

**( quote didn't work, but this was in response to danninnj's comment" "While I can't prove it, I'm willing to bet a nice men's Burberry shirt that Tina and her cohorts visited high-end stores as part of research and implemented the Vibe from their experiences (I'll take a small, please.)" )
