We were wearing plastic pants for waterproof purposes, back then.

During the era of cloth diapers, plastic pants were worn over them for an attempt at containment (leaks, escaping poopies...you get the idea). When disposables came out, they had the plastic exterior so no exterior plastic pants were needed.

I like how the formatting of the ad has not changed at all. It's still the same font, the same "big word" next to the price, with the smaller font underneath (same size as they are now)
