Did the lod run the show all the time? Did we have enough team leaders to have multiple on a closing night?

At my store we have a lot of team leads, sometimes 4 on a shift. Always at least 2.

No one says TLOD at my store only LOD. The other night ETL HR and GSA closed. That was the slimmest close I have seen for our ETLs. Generally always close with an ETL or GSTL up front. Multiple TLs from Starbucks, Softlines, Hardlines, AP too.

My store only has one team lead per closing night and most of the time 1 exec. Sometimes we have a exec and a sr team lead.

Today my store had no ETLs scheduled in-store (they were all on a team build). We had a SrTL open, mid, and close as LOD and I think the only TL we had after 8 was the FA/SB TL.

No team leads at all? How many team members did ya have on the floor?

2 in softlines until 11, 1 in electronics, 1 in C/D, 1 in A/B, 1 in Market, and me (who zoned mens when my 'shock collar' wasn't going off). We are most definitely NOT ULV!

At least once a week at my store, there is no tl closing at all, just the Lod. But, we have our strong tm's who closed with the Lod.

When Target used to have staffing it also had more TL and ETLs. So you would have at least one TL close in HL, one in SL and a GSTL. The LOD just had to coordinate with those three. And you would have lots more staff with a Specialist or two tossed in. Of course the zone had to be perfect. What people call a super or detail zone now was what was expected every night. And leaving reshop would get you written up. Coming from those standards when I walk into a store at open now as a guest the place looks like disaster. Back then calling for back up at the front lanes was rare and guest service was king, You could never wander around a store and never see a TM like you can now.

Can someone explain to me what a TLOD is? I've never heard the term before, I'm assuming it's Team Leader on Duty, but what exactly
do they do?

At my store we have 2 ETLs close together 3-4 nights a week. If we don't have 2 ETLs then it's usually one ETL and at least one TL.
However, the TL never does any LOD tasks, they just stick to their workcenter.

TLOD's at my store check and clear SDA, PVC, lead huddle, and lead the zone.

Since I am a GSTL and stick close to the lanes, I'll handle SDA, PVC, huddle, but someone else (usually a brand attendant or the LOD) will lead the zone.

Target used to have a level of employee between TM and TL, called a Specialist. They were indicated with a "Spec" title next to their name on the grid, much like TLs have "TL".

There were specialists for every area, most of them are now called "Brand TMs". Just about every workcenter had specialists. They were assistants to the TL, and had a level of authority to them.

I am a brand tm....and in my store I am probably the only brand tm who has that level of authority. Often when I close the fitting room, there is not tl on duty in softlines, which means I am called upon to lead the team.

For closing shifts we usually have either an ETL or SRTL paired with one TL and a GSA. Dayside weekday shifts get the most, usually at least two ETLs and 4+ TLs.

I close by myself (without a TL) at least once a month (if not more, depending on the other TLs on my weekend and if they are opening or closing). Even some nights I close with a TL they might not be very helpful (especially if they're a GSTL and manage the lanes and can't really help manage the zone while I do LOD stuff).
