So I'm dealing with a number of both physical and mental health issues and I really need to take some time off to focus on getting better. Problem is, the soonest I can see my GP is October and the soonest I can see a specialist is November. I've only met once with my GP so far and she doesn't know that this is happening, so I don't think I'd be able to just send her the paperwork when she hasn't even had a visit with me about this problem.

The thing is, I do see a therapist once a week, but she's a social worker, not an MD. My only other option would be to hit up urgent care and see if one of the docs who treated me this past month could help, but I doubt it.

I don't know what to do. Would my therapist be able to provide the necessary documentation or does it need to come from an MD? I really need to take care of this as soon as possible.

Please partner with your HR about this. They can give you the necessary paperwork and instructions to get a medical LOA. I believe you can go on regular LOA and then later change it to medical LOA if needed.
