I don't know if other stores are feeling this, but I have been with Target for 15 years and have never seen it this bad. I work flow and I notice that never ever are flow team members held accountable for anything. But it goes beyond flow to every work center in the store. The store is beyond a mess. N0thing is put where it belongs and no one cares. We actually have a guy that stays behind after flow works a section of the store is done. He goes through the back stock and puts it out on endcaps that were missed and aisles that were not filled. Almost 80% of it goes out. You would think that it should have been done right in the first place. Our leads are afraid to say anything to these team members. It is not unreasonable to expect them to do their jobs right the first time. I remember years ago we had a team lead who assigned aisles to each team member and then would sometimes go through the back stock and check if it indeed was. If it was not back stock and did fit out then they were called out for it and fixed it. Just the fact that each team member COULD be called out made them do better. Since no one is held accountable for anything, there is no reason to do a good job. I see this everywhere. Pog sets are horrible and incomplete. They never clean before setting shelves. There are shelves missing, pegs missing, labels missing. When they are done with a set they move on. When this is called to their attention, it is never fixed. It is virtually everywhere in the store. I have talked to EHR, my STL, and on and on. They pretend they are interested and pretend to talk to members to fix the problem and never do. Anyone else seeing this in their store. Target is not what it use to be. No one cares.

Is your stores making sales? If so that's the answer. Spot only cares about things when it starts effecting sales. untill that happens it's not a problem. Now I will say this is the case in most stores. Some stores really do care it could be that the STL really cares or it could be thru know that that DTL wouldn't put up with that kind of crap.

Welcome to the board,Sammy.Lack of caring is a massive problem for Target that leadership does not recognize or fail to address and the results of this will be very bad as time goes on.I would also say that in a lot of cases caring has been beaten out of people,by the way they are treated especially by the hours they are given each week . Target fail to realize that the majority of their tms are working there for a reason and not for fun , they have bills to pay , yet most people are only given four hour shifts , this is especially true of our flow team . I know that this is the start of the year and hours are tight because of pressure from above , but why are we still hiring ? I believe it is in anticipation of a lot of people walking out because of the conditions . I also have been with Target a long time and I do care and take pride in the job I do , but that is me and for me it is sad what Target has become over the years and the great number of incredible people who have been lost to the company over the years, you have only to look at this board to see that ongoing trend.

We have a new stl, when he was making his rounds he saw the disaster flow left the back room in and the cages on the floor as well as product in the wrong location that he sent out an email that every team leader is going to be held responsible for their teams actions. The stl has only been at my store for a week and flow has finally come clean every single day and other areas of the store that haven't been green in years(leadership stopped trying to improve the performance) are green. I'm finally happy that pricing and signing have somehow caught up to this weeks work load.

My store is almost as bad as the OP, but the same problems exist to a somewhat lesser degree. I think there are multiple reasons why this has happened. The reduction in workforce is probably number one. Having worked Flow for almost three years when I first started, you need a TL to stay with the Wave and continually manage and check-up on the TMs pushing. The Flow TL now is just being pulled in too many directions. Also, ETLs being hired right out of college and immediately being trained by Target doesn't bring in any seasoned ETLs ftom other chains who could bring in a fresh perspective. My list is much longer, but those are the two that I would put near the top.

When Target stopped having true brand team members (Cosmetics, Jewelry) and decreased the number of TLs/ETLs per store, and decreased payroll to the point where there are 2-3 people under "salesfloor" aka not on a specialty team.

PUSH is important. Red Cards are important.

Training is not. Accountability is not. Guest Service is not.

ETA: IIRC, I think we also had a shoes brand tm.

I have been with the company a little over 19 years. I agree with what you are saying . Back in the "good ole days" we had a flow team lead who made each and every flow tm put their initials ( with a marker) on their bs. The bs was audited every single truck and if something went out that was marked bs...the flow team member was called out on it. If you it happened on a reg. basis it lead to a write up etc. Now? The flow team is told to get it done as fast as they can...half the merchandise they send back as bs is empty or almost empty on the floor. If you bring it up to leadership they just brush it off...I know that Spot had to make some changes to recoup losses and stay afloat. Times are changing and Spot had to change with them. However, some things are just common sense .IE if merchandise is empty on the flow it doesn't go to the backroom...but I guess the issue with common sense is it just isn't common anymore

If you were apptl I'd ask if you were my tl. This is my store to a detail. The explanation if sales is the answer. So long as you are making and even being sales they forgive a lot. We were over a million over in sales last year. Heading in the same direction this year already. I've given up trying to fix the world. It's not worth it.

We had 3 TLs and 3 specialists in softlines. At night 5-7 of would close. Now we have I TL and 3 "brand" TMs with little or no training. We're lucky to have 2 TMs closing now. Guess what softlines looks like.

I think with the cut of hours and stuff everyone stopped caring. My store is the same way. I try to fix things I see in the wrong spot but it's too much to do while trying to push more stuff out. People just don't care when they feel like management doesn't with lack of hours and other things. The flow team at my store especially.. If they even show up.. Just throws sealed boxes all over the store that we end up finding at night when zoning.

I just believe that some of the ETLs and LOD's are too young and immature to be running a business. I don't believe I ever I mean ever listen to my LOD mostly because they don't know my job better then me. So when they show they don't care then it's a reflects mention of their store. If it looks shitty then they have shitty team members. I'm a backroom closer and I approve this message. If you know what to do every time you clock in and you get it done every time then don't listen to them shine on your own. I do.

Oh I know! Most ETLs I have worked with are only in their early 20s! What I can not wrap my mind around is when I started at spot they were still in middle school and now they boss me around with such little retail experience! I am sure the people who have worked for spot 20 years find it a huge spit in the face!

I've learned to just outperform your peers, and roll with the punches. I don't ask every 'guest' cihyfs? I rarely do. My STL doesn't even do it, so why should I? I have workload to complete. And then do the work of salesfloor by flexing discontinued products. Complaining about having to set 3 end caps in a 8 hour day makes my mind go 'what the fuck?'. I can set pull and push pogs which conservatively is 50 ft. Research included. I express my opinions and I let the performance speak for itself. Sales floor needs help so I'll be doing EC's like a breeze. Also, when the passive aggress comments made towards me when I'm working, I do my own passive aggressive. Move slow.

Thanks for the feed-back. It seems it is all down to sales (which should make you try harder), lack of experience from those in charge, and apathy.

It is so fun to watch newbie ETLs who can't say anything but the scripted BS they learn in business college. Word for word..
