So tonight marks 90 days that I've been with Target as an Electronics Team Member and I'm worried about my review. I feel like they didn't clearly state my responsibilities when I was hired and they only gave me like two days of training. I still don't know how to 4x4 or do Ad Audit. My biggest problem has been zoning; I don't know if it's pushed as far in all stores but at mine you'll have like 5 TL's approach you if your zone isn't 100% finished and there are people who have worked here for 6-7 years and just fluff the zone. My problem is that I have OCD and I HATE it when people fluff the zone. My zone will be literally 10x better than someone else but I'll get yelled at because I wasn't far enough along with my zone as I should be. It's gotten better with most of the LOD's recently except with my Electronics TL who is SO hard to please. She told me the other day that my zoning progress was unacceptable. My STL and most of the ETL's like me, the Log-ETL really likes having me around when he's LOD because I can basically keep up with pushing reshop for most of hardlines. Our ETL-GE also really liked me but she quit about 3 weeks ago. I've already taught two new team members how to use PDA's and I've been teaching people who have been there longer than me where reshop items go. I've frequently been told by guests that I'm their favorite electronics guy and I go up for backup more than most of our team members when I'm on a Harlines shift (even if I'm a bit of a slow cashier). My AAR score was really bad at first but now it's about on par with the rest of the Electronic TM's if a bit lower. I can sell warranties on pretty much everything but I'm not so good yet on other items. I'm really worried because I've become friends with almost all the TM's and some of the TL's and I really enjoy my job and I'm really nervous about the review. I also really want to be cross-trained for other areas of the store as well so I can learn more and be more eligible for moving up in the company down the road. Sorry to be long winded about this whole thing but I was really hoping people who have been through this before could shed some light on my likeliness to keep my job. Do you guys think I have a chance? Also when will I get my review, like will they pull me aside tomorrow or will it be handed to me or posted online or what?

Sometimes you won't get a review that means your good. I'm not an expert on these usurpations but I think you'll be fine, they will just tell you what you need to work on and that may be it(zoning) but Im sure if you are good everything else or even some things you'll be fine. And hey if they don't keep you there loss gl

If they follow through and do it, you'll be given a paper copy and have a meeting with your ETL/TL about it. From my experience, if you've already reached your 90 days then you are good. After 90 days you have to go through the entire termination process ( several coachings, a CA, then a FW). If we were going to term a TM within their 90 days we had to do it well before the 90 day mark. Roughly on their 70th day.

If you don't have any documented coachings and have a good attendance report you're really good to go. But simply making it to your 90 days should show you aren't being termed.

There's no official 90 day review any longer. The TL is supposed to have a chat with the TM and then email HR any important info. If you're still there on day 91, you're hired.

You will be ok. Your mgt should notice your efforts to help guests & proper zone. On the zoning thing, it takes time to master. Be patient.

Welcome to The Break Room!

I know how you feel; I'm a "super-zoner" myself. If you're providing great guest service, driving sales, and have good numbers for conversion and AAR, I don't see why there would be a problem. Remember, you're just one person and guests come before everything else.

You all are great! I struggle with my OCD in the fitting room- I thought this would be a job I could really enjoy - and I do- but it wont stayCLEAN!! hehehe
What do you all do about thirst? I can go a long time without eating- but the continual talking and running around gets me so thirsty I get a headache- one water bubbler in front of store and I am just too busy too get up there when I need it.

I also get hangry- this job has a lot of challenges for me, but I really like it-
I am picky about people coming in to fitting area and digging around in the damaged good and tagless stuff for entertainment- why wont they just put away the clothes that I have already straightened? I wouldnt say anything to anyone about this- but it is nice to vent here. And you guys seem to keep such a positive attitude. That is my main goal at work- to stay positive
Thanks for letting me rant
Good night everyone

Keep a water bottle hidden at the fitting room. But this depends on your store...it would be fine at my store, but may not fly at others.

TL;DR

I had problems with finding that balannce of speed and quality fluffing is the only way to do it mate

Oh fluffling lol.

If you make it to day 91, then you are good to go. I wouldn't worry too much about anything. If you really weren't meeting expectations then you would be gone already.

When I skimmed your comment my first thought was you were talking about porn.

I'm such a child.

Its hard for me to just fluff, then its not "right". It also takes me five minuites to park my car, unless someone took my spot then it takes longer so this is probobly just a personal problem.

At my store we have to have a doctor's note to have a water bottle on the floor, although some of the people will sneak a water bottle while they're operator.

It also takes me five minuites to park my car

How is that even possible?
Hes more perverted lol

I pull out and then pull in over and over untill its "right". When I try to fight it by just getting out before it is "right" I will obsses over it being wrong. I take medication to lessen OCD's hold on my life though and it does help.

And I am not perverted, I am sexually liberated ladycat of the modern day.

Oh does my mental illness sound crazy to you?

I remember the first time i did zoning I started on the oral health section it took me 45 mins to get everything perfect. Pull overstock off the shelves, get everything lined up and pull the items stuck deep in the shelves. My ETL gave me "Oh you're still working on this aisle". I later realized i should have only done the toothpaste like 4 rows deep instead of everything and move quickly to get more aisles "done". OCD is not approved.

From the sound of it , I don't think you have anything to worry about. I will say that by reading your post you can tell that you take pride in your job....not many team members do that anymore.

I like mundane jobs, clear objectives nothing to really think and worry about little ambiguity. Plus I get to work the whole time, I've had jobs where I just had to stand near an area for long periods of time doing nothing because I already did all the routine maintenance, super boring. I can also listen to music while I work. It's tiring and tedious work but it's not boring. I rather wonder where the day went then hoping for the day to end already.

Speed is god here at my store

A few aisles zoned perfectly counts for nothing if that's all you can do. A few perfect aisles with the rest of your block looking like trash is unacceptable. Your zone needs to look good. Fix an aisle or two perfectly every time you work, but get through the rest of your zone. If an aisle is going to take you 45 minutes to zone perfectly, then that needs to be a project for the dayside team. Ideally, the TL over your area is holding all tms accountable. If zoning is done well every day then it becomes easier to maintain. If you can only get through half a zone, even if it is perfect, then that is much more work for someone else to do.

A lot of us want our entire zones to be perfect. I'm the same way. I totally understand it. but you have to let go of that. Work on getting your speed up. Those people "fluffing" the zone have learned this fact. Even for the people that aren't doing their zones perfectly are probably not leaving zones as bad as you think. There are some people who suck. You just can't get caught up in every little detail.
