Archived Brand Team Member?

The bright side of being a baby advisor is you don't have to wear red & khaki :)

Really? What do they wear?

Our baby advisors still wear khaki pants, but they have special shirts they wear that are red and white. But that's only during their baby advisor shifts. They wear regular red and khaki for other workcenters.

Anyone else here making more than 25 cents more for a brand position?

I'm not brand (but I'd probably do it for a raise...) but I think the raise depends where you started or have been. If your already on the pay level as Brand team member you won't get a raise to my knowledge.

I got 25c when going from TM to Brand. Since you say you've not yet been told anything, are you sure it's gone through yet? I had the slightly surreal experience of basically being told by others that I'd got it, and then a week later suddenly being called to the office and having three no-prep interviews in a row for it.

Still haven't heard a word about a brand position but I have been asked to be a GSA.

So I got brave yesterday and asked my STL if I could cover the GSA breaks. He said, "Of course. You're the SL brand TM now, right?"
Maybe I should have said, "Yes I am!" But I said I'm not a brand TM. Later I asked why he thought I was brand and he said I should apply for it. He said I would be interviewed with him being the last interview. I guess I'll apply for it and see what happens. This whole thing is really weird though.

I don't know if Perishables Assistant counts as a Brand Team Member, but, my raise from Hardlines TM to PA was $2.00

Yes Brand TM usually APPLY for this specific position. It is weird that they gave it to you without your knowledge. Especially if it is in an area that you aren't comfortable working in. I was cosmetic BS & shoe BS. All it really means is that you superzone that area & are replied on to be knowledgeable in those specific products. Its not hard! So if they want you to do it- besides "springing it on you"- what is the issue exactly? Talk to an ETL & find out what is expected of you & then whether it is a task you are up to doing!

PA is a higher paygrade than a brand team member.. You'd be an N07 paygrade and be comparable to GSAs, Receiving TMs, and HRTMs. The way my former STL put it when I asked about stepping from GSA to SF Brand TM: "If you're looking for responsibility within the store, PA, GSA, HR, and Receiving are the positions where you can get that. They'll give you the best opportunities to learn the ins-and-outs of our systems and give you a global perspective on how a store operates, as well as the freedom to flex your leadership skills and create your own routines; you won't get that with a brand team member position."

Like those above said, "brand TM" essentially means that instead of spending your afternoon working CAF's you'll probably be zoning, replenishing, and guest servicing in your assigned department... You get an extra 25 cents and the perk of sticking around one area versus running all across the floor at any given time. It's the new and lower-paid version of a specialist team member.

Thank you Paid. I've also been asked to do GSA. I still have to get through 3 interviews. Part if me wants no part if any of this. Right now they love me and I have good relationships with my peers throughout the store. I don't want to lose that. I'm very global. I'll work wherever and whenever they'll let me. We are going through some big changes at my store. No matter what happens,I'll continue to work hard and do my best. I'm not young, smart or attractive so being a hard worker with a positive attitude is all I have going for me. Wish me luck I need all the help I can get right now.

Good luck! I definitely recommend skipping over the "brand TM" junk and going straight for something like GSA or HR. It'll give you so much more experience so if you find yourself job searching you have a stronger resume and skill-sets. You won't gain as much from being a brand team member.

For example: during my job search, I explained my GSA (team member) position to several interviewers and recruiters and they responded with "Oh, so that's Target's title for Customer Service Managers" or "Tell me more about why you're looking to step down and become an associate with us?" or "We do have advanced career options for you based off your prior supervisory experience, if that's something you'd be interested in?" ...Keeping in mind I made it clear it was a team member level position, all 5 of my interviewers corrected me and referred to it as part of the management team.

It's a lot of work, but when you go from Target's standard down to another company, they look at the GSA position very highly if you choose to take on responsibilities and play a strong leadership role for your front end team. You'll get leadership skills as well as team, communication, and relationship building skills that you can speak to during future interviews. DTL's see GSA's as a half-ass leadership position, but a leader up front none the less. You won't get as much of that from "Being the sole person responsible for keeping the cosmetics department zoned accurately and providing great service in that department."

Yeah, what PTS said. I definitely used my GSA experience to my advantage at my interview for my current job. It has nothing to do with retail whatsoever, but being able to manage people and deal with high stress high responsibility high workload in a leadership position is still valuable experience for anything, even non-leadership positions. I feel bad for my former store's lone brand TM, he has to work up front at Guest Services now, plus be the backup GSA on fill-in shifts without the role itself, plus still run shoes.

Ok I need answers please! I'm going to call hotline & talk to higher up HR. I was got the upgrade from sales floor to electronics ( after I found out I was supposed to they hoped I wouldn't notice!) four months ago the MMB specialist transferred & without being asked I inherited the job. I now have double the workload! I asked if I got a pay raise & HR said no it's a lateral move. Maybe because they eliminated specialist position? But it's not right because I have way more work & responsibilities doing a job nobody else knows how do.

So you were originally Sales Floor, went to Electronics TM, and now you're MMB specialist, correct?

I'd go as far to say that you learn more as a PA than you do in any other Non-TL position in the store..

The amount I have learned about just the logistics process in itself is astounding, let alone anything else.. If you can get the Market Logistics process down, you can get ANY Logistics process down... You also pretty much learn everything in the store... From Plano, Backroom, Receiving. You also become an ELITE Instocks TM as you literally order a lot of your own inventory, rather than just research it.

The one problem with being a PA is if you are GOOD at it, I feel as though they are very VERY reluctant to move you up.

Ok...so things at work are still awkward. Another TL congratulated me and when I asked "What for?" they stammered and made up something. We were both embarrassed. The TL that first said something to me asked me if "they" had said anything to me yet. Then another TL came up and said yes they told all them in the meeting. I asked if they were asked not to tell me and they said absolutely not. They just can't understand why no one has told me. This is freaking me out. I never asked any one about being a brand TM. I don't really know if I want to work in the area involved. Even if I wanted to, I'm honestly not sure I even could do it.
I probably sound ridiculous to those of you deciding about accepting higher positions but all this is very important to me. I don't want to disappoint any one or let anyone down. Isn't this a strange way to handle this?
Well, honestly, the fact of the matter is, is that you're about to be cleaning bathrooms and trashcans and misc spills (the kind tms don't want to clean up, not like water or food), and it sounds like they don't know how to approach you.
Personally, as a tl, I wouldn't even take the position of I got to keep my current pay.
Don't forget, every spot needs to be filled, so maybe they're replacing your last position but wanted to keep you in the store
Not true. I've been a brand tm for 2 years. Granted I used to be an Etl. But I set adjacencies, purge the backroom w the disc report, set endcaps, set aisles, ptm seasonal areas, etc etc. I have never cleaned up spills, the bathroom, never got carts, etc etc.

Brand tm != brand attendant.

Electronics tm is N07.
Entertainment tm is N07.
No pay raise for lateral moves.

Is there any way you can signal to DCs that some items should prioritized to be sent over others?

Update!
I am now the Baby Advisor and it is a brand position! I got a nice raise and I'm getting trained to be GSA. Interacting with guests is my favorite part of my job so I think I'm going to love this. This is a really big deal to me and I'm excited. I honestly think the things I've learned here in the BR have increased my confidence at work and I thank you all!
