Archived Can someone please explain why it's called "compliance?"

Target uses Target terms and grooms people in to using them as if they’re industry standard terms, making many people look poorly in interviews for other companies.

Target Terms bleed over to job positions too. Team Lead? Are you taking campers hiking or something? You’re a shift supervisor or lead.

It’s confuzing but you’ll pick it up quick

Team lead is the term for, well, team leaders at my corporate job and has been since I started there 15 years ago. I also saw "Team Member" at the hotel I stayed at this week, so that one isn't Target exclusive, either.

Every company has its own language. I think it gives Target (or anyone) way too much credit to assume they do it to make it hard for people to interview elsewhere.

late for lunch --> status is now a COMPLIANCE issue --> you've hit "compliance" (as being your issue/problem)

It's basically like HR asking, "Oh, they're flagged in the system. What's the problem?"

Answer: "It's a compliance problem."

ergo, "hit compliance," as shorthand or slang.

The grammar is wrong and I'll never think otherwise.
