Dedicated Trainers????? Merit Pay??? Interviewing process to become a trainer?? No longer joe blow becoming a trainer.. There’s gonna actually be accountability to being a trainer…

Is this the "trainer" meeting they had back in November so all the trainers would "be on the same page"and yet still none of our seasonal hires got any training?

It was never "Joe Blow" being trainers. All of them had to fill out a trainer interest form and actually explain why they wanted to be a trainer and why they thought they'd make a good trainer. The OM had to sign off on it.

Plus, they never got any more in pay. Now with it being merit, people will apply just for the money and may care less than the people who were doing it on a volunteer basis.

What accountability are you speaking of? What kinds of things are going on in your DC that you feel the trainers are not doing a good job?

What planet are you living on? I want to work in your DC if they actually can get good people to put in for it, nobody who should be a trainer at my DC will go anywhere near it, especially now that they hire anything that applies. If you have a pulse you are hired.

Maybe in years long past being chosen as a trainer was a big deal but not anymore, They are putting some real winners in the position, people who cannot even do a job to 50% of standard are training others how to do the job. We had a trainer GPM and they staged every aisle right down the center and in aisles being pulled by CA it was absolutely amazing.

Lets be real. The reason people took trainer is to get out of doing work, its going to be just like the lead warehouse workers. People go for it to get out of production and the people chosen will be the OM's buddies we all know what I mean.

Its another huge waste of time and money, like the lead warehouse workers, has anything actually improved since they took affect? If anything its only gotten worse.

Less actually. HC's are drastically lower for trainers. More dedicated bodies means less bodies are needed.
well i hope you're right, just sick of seeing vested people doing bumbF nothing and the vested SOM not giving me any help when he asks why the damage cage looks like a shitstorm and he wantsQF done first… sorry just al little jaded .. thanx for listening 😀

Only if they are qualified to do the job. They keep adding headcount to ICQA, and it’s not because the building is any bigger. They just made poor choices when they selected the initial team. And then they had to supplement that team with IB Problem Solver and now Capacity LWW, in addition to the added headcount. If they would have just held the team to a standard from the beginning, they would never have had to expand. Our OMs that run both capacity and icqa are sub-standard at best, so no surprise that those teams arent making anything better. And still teying to figure exactly what the training specialist dies to support, besides walk around with a clipboard, getting in the way, while trying to look important.

Am I crazy for actually being a little excited about this? A number of the current trainers at my facility are lackluster, and I am hopeful our leaders will make good decisions while interviewing for the new dedicated trainers. So many of the trainers were getting pulled back to prod functions while in the middle of training during the whole mass hiring mess, so it's nice to hear that won't be an issue any more. I do have to say I am a bit salty that it seems Merit trainers will continue to only get a pat on the back. Helping train nearly an entire ICQA team from the ground up with no SOW [or severely outdated ones] when I was pretty new to the role myself made me want to take a ride up the Mezz on a piece of cardboard some days.

They made the announcement about the new trainer thing yesterday at my DC and the first thing they said was that they would still be working on the floor with the rest of us when there is no one to train. The way they described it didn’t seem much different than what they have already been doing honestly. We have really good trainers here, it’s the Team leads that seem to be the lazy ones. I feel like the trainers are still going to get the short end of the stick. They never mentioned it being merit now but if so then I’m happy for them because I don’t understand how someone proficient enough in their job to train people well is in the same pay grade

They won't be merit but they will make a little more money than regular TMs. It's a higher progression scale similar to what team leads were up until this new thing kicks in.

Well that’s good I feel if you’re a trainer then you do deserve more. I always thought it was strange for them to get a title but not be compensated alittle more. I’m probably biased though because I feel the trainers in my previous and current dept do a good job. I’m one of those “bare minimum” people but I’ve been in the DC almost 3 years and I’m definitely observant.

Yes, that is also what I gathered from the information I've heard from my key's Training Specialist. I'm very thrilled that it sounds like the new trainers will be under the TOMs rather than their department's OMs while they have TMs to train. I have the email and may have to take a look at it when I'm at work over the weekend to see if there is any other specific information. I never actually read it because I was out of the building for a while when my team received it back in December. To my understanding, just as whsDCII mentioned above, the new trainers indeed will not be Merit but will get a pay bump. I imagine no concrete information regarding amounts will be relayed until those TMs receive offer letters, but who knows.

Its not merit. Its a higher progression scale. It will have the same number of steps as the WW progression scale but it should be a 5% bump over your current scale.

So if your building scale was 20, 20.50, 21, 21.50 etc. The trainer scale would be roughly 21, 21.52, 22.05, 22.57.

5%! Cool – thank you, Hal. That will be really nice for them!!

Has anyone heard any new news about this role? The initial information we received was a lot of "we don't know yet"s.

Hopefully, there is accountability, I had to retrain a TM on the RC one night because they missed a couple of processes on the first attempt. When I started going over a few things from the playbook they looked like I was speaking a foreign language. I asked them how much of the playbook was read to them and they told me none. Went to the training specialist and explained to them what I was told. Nothing was done. Sorry I'll step off my soapbox now.

It's Level 71 step progression in SOME DCs. It's level 0 merit in others. The Dedicated trainer being Merit vs. Step progression depends on your DC, it's no set way.

There's no such thing as a level 0 Merit. Its just what the HR team coded in workday for the application because its a brand new postion in the network and some made mistakes. Its level 71 progression in ALL DCs and is standard across the network I have the entire rollout packet from the HQ.

Ok. I will take your explanation of the 0 coding, I've seen some of your posts in other threads and you seem very knowledgeable thanks.

How does the progression work if a team member is still progressing in their current role? Will their upcoming raise be transferred into this role? Is the pay structure set in stone or is there room for negotiation?
