Archived Fake hours scheduled...

So my friend is coming back to work but only for Saturday's and Sunday's. She sees her schedule and she's on for 38 hours! She's about to go BSC until her TL swoops in to tell her this.
TL-(whispers) It's okay, it's okay, you aren't 'actually' working those M-F hours... Wink, wink
TM-(puppy dog head twist) What do you mean? It clearly shows me scheduled for 38 hours!
TL-(whispers) We have new hires starting and they'll be using the hours from your schedule. You only work Saturday and Sunday.
TM-(hands in the air) whatever, see ya Saturday.

What's the point of this?

Just a guess: someone, likely HRBP, is closely watching how your store schedules to ensure there is adequate coverage for every workcenter because of prior problems. The new TMs who they want to work those shifts were not yet in the system when the schedule was written.

That happened at my store, too. People who left were still put on the schedule to hold those hours for new hires coming on board, because the store needs to schedule all their allotted hours.

Or call out because it's outside of availability.

If they mean it they should take your friend off the schedule for those days & assign them to the new TM, once the newbie gets into the system. Friend should follow up and make sure that happens. They should then see the shifts disappear from Kronos, and if not, keep talking to HR/TL/ETL/Whoever they can get ahold of.

they should've plugged those training shifts into myTime using one of the many dummies that are available for this exact purpose. dummy shifts + shift tags and then swap those shifts over as soon as the new team members are added to myTime.

All I know is the person scheduled didn't work them. She only worked the Saturday shift.
