Archived Favorite role at Target?

I started off as a cashier/guest service six years ago. Was pulled into softlines when people started to quit as a brand team member, then got promoted to shoe specialist. When I transferred to a different store, was pulled into human resources for about a year. I got tired of it and begged to be put in p-fresh or hardlines. They put me in pfresh for 4am shifts to help with truck. I am now a p-fresh perishables assistant and have been for nearly two years. I'm also trained in hardlines/signing/little bit of back room. My favorite role is my current role, PA.

Good to know everyone's position and there dislikes and likes on different roles!!!Does anyones target have the softball games outside of work that vurses another target in the town?haha

I've worked as a Pharmacy Tech and HR Team Member, and those are my favorites. In HR, it was nice to not have a TL breathing down my neck all the time (my store was just me and my ETL), and there was always something new to learn, for all those weird little situations that came up with the TMs.

That must have been interesting. That's like, basically, a whole knew thing to do and usually people rely on you.

It was interesting. You'll never work as closely with all of the other team members (and team leaders) as in HR. Admittedly, it did get frustrating at times, because of how much others rely on you for some things. But overall, it was pretty cool. Definitely beat being a GSA.

so far i have done, flow, backroom, plano, in stocks, hard lines, p fresh. my main position is flow and backroom, but backroom tops it all out of what I've done

1) GSTL (obviously)

2) Photo

3) Sales Floor/Backroom

4) Service Desk

5) ... etc. etc.

6) Cashier

How did you like instocks wth researching and doing planogram???!

I am trained in the following departments:

1) Softlines (including fitting room/operator)
2) Hardlines
3) Cashier
4) Guest Service
5) Human Resources
6) Pharmacy
7) Backroom
8) Electronics
9) Cart Attendant
10) Signing

So a lot. I'm missing Food Ave/Starbucks, Flow (which I wouldn't need too much training for I don't think, as I do a lot of pushing when they have me push CAFs and the like, it would just be on a larger scale), cash office, presentation, instocks, price change, and photo.

I think I like HR the most. Softlines the second most. Everything else, each have their pros and cons. Haven't done pharmacy enough to really comment.

I'm mainly a key Flow TM. I train new members and run HBA/Chem/Pets waves, but am not formally a "trainer". But I have to say I love Instocks the most! I'm getting use to doing batches and POGs so I plan on being training in Backroom and Plano pretty soon.

For all its headaches and heartaches, for all the BS and silliness that comes with the job, I'd still have to say signing.

^^^ signing is not bad at all! Just because for me, I like being alone and not being bothered by any LOD, lol. and LuckYinLV, I've been on the planogram team after christmas last year to change all of toys and i enjoyed some parts of it but putting pegs up and shelves are just sooo annoying for me, haha. But I enjoy doing research every morning from 6:30-3 then closing in stocks on the weekends. What's better is from 6:30-8a.m you are getting what's technically 'overnight' pay.

I don't know about other signing folks but I'm called by a TL, ETL or the LOD just about every 15 minutes.

Well, when I used to do signing, the team lead for signing was always there but was always doing what he had to do and let everyone else do there own thing.:p

What is signing and flow? What does a Flow TL do?

To my knowlege, signing is usually done by early team members who come in around 2 hours before the store opens to get a head start, and they set up the new signs for the ad along with creating fixtures, and backerpaper for heavy on-sale items on a possible endcap or focal. Flow I believe is just overnight and dispursing the product from the truck(s) onto the sales floor while target is closed for the 8 hours.
**Correct me if i'm wrong anyone.

I always find it interesting how different every store is, it's so easy to make assumptions that we're the same and it really isn't true.
At our store the plano team handles all the backer paper and fixtures unless it's for sp endcaps and then it's usually the TL (or whoever they're able to foist it off on).
There is a team that handles all the ad signing on Sunday morning that I run.
During the week I take care of all the displays, fixtures, signing, the fixture room itself and whatever else they want to throw at me.

That's similar to our store as well, Commiecorvus. Our signing team and planogram team/presentation do things alike, and work together at some points during a project. But when I come in during the week for research, I'm just scanning every item in the store along with 2 other team members, then push what research we have created for the backroom and any EXF's we made. Which is why I like that better because we are not working with anyone else besides us (during the week that is)

Everyone that is a HLtl or whatever should do it correctly. I will correct wrong if if needed. Usually when I walk by it. Fix it & move on.
