our DTL wants us to keep our "women's panties" all zoned in neat little piles.

Please....it'll only take one guest (even a gentle guest) to make the "panties" into one great mess. With all the other things to do, why are they worried about the "panties" being neat?? Since when is neat underwear more important than tables being folded? Or clothes on hangers? Or no re-shop at the fitting room?

Stop the madness!

You don't UNDERSTAND, if panties were just neater we would see a 0.05% incremental 48 week rolling average sale increase in that department! God, Pellinore, can't you see the BIG PICTURE!?

Trust me, it won't last long. We were told to do that when we first got the tables of panties and after the wasted hours on those things, they changed their tune. Now the bins of panties are overflowing... -__-;;

It's not just your DTL........... It is a company wide thing..... NO MORE DUMP BINS, everything must be zoned nice and neat..

Yep same thing at our store. They even brought it up at huddle, I was like, are you freaking kidding me who cares. Just like market, lets throw some more things for you guys to do and cut your hours. You obviously can do more in less time right, i mean, we just KNOW you were slacking before.

I've been hearing that song for weeks now. It seems like any time I get an area with bins, the LOD tweaks and has to remind me. I did surprise one ETL though with the beauty of the stuffed animal bins.

Other than panty bins(while it does happen there, SL does not have the time to go through intimates often) the bins in the store are a huge hazard in terms of inventory. My first store, travel sized items were not even close to planogram, any bin anywhere rarely got checked for hiding reshop, and it always looked like garbage. Trying to shoot any IS was a nightmare with bins the way they were. Since this was initiated I've come in on and off the clock to a pretty good looking store, especially in A(my "specialty" for HL closing shifts). I'll find out tomorrow what it's like from the IS perspective since I haven't been in that workcenter since the change.

I understand it's a huge hassle for us, but I think it can make a difference and it can be kept up with the right approach. It could be all the kool-aid in me but I'm seeing a pretty decent success with bins so far.

I can tell you first hand shooting the panty bins is a nightmare. Sometimes they even appear to be zoned but what it is that particular bin doesn't go there. I so don't have time for that. If it isn't zoned, I don't shoot it. I do communicate any area I couldn't research due to zone to the area TL and the IS TL to CMA. They all know the store is a mess. I just say.."Just for communication purposes..." so no one feels like I'm attacking them. I'm just "communicating the opportunity". Gotta love Target speak.

Then to paraphrase a famous movie quote..... "Show us the HOURS!!!!!"

Oh, I forgot, we're talking Target..... That means higher standards with FEWER hours..... my bad......
"Expect more. Pay less" also applies to hours.
Talk about gettin' yer panties in a twist....

If that is the worst thing your DTL has for you, then he is obviously grasping at straws. Just nod and tell him you'll get right on it, and then go on with reality.

We just switched DTLs within the past year... Our former DTL seemed to be pretty realistic with results and expectations, but holy ****, the new DTL needs to get her panties untwisted.... It's kind of funny because she sure doesn't radiate Target's youthful/chic image, she pretty much resembles the wicked witch of the west... ha

Or basically a female version of this....

I thankfully don't have to shoot softlines at all in my new store, so no panty bin problems for me! The last time I did it we had a team of 6(old store, broken IS process) in Intimates and still didnt get a good shoot in.

One night, closing TMs who had finished their zones were asked to help other zones that were behind or had been "shopped hard". The upshot was a bunch of guys from HL 'helping' zone the panty boxes.
Bad idea.
Once they finished ogling over the little bits of lace & such, they began launching thongs at each other over the fixtures.
Talk about getting your knickers in a knot....

Way back when we were first told to neatly sort the panties, we had a bunch of guys "helping". It was hysterical!

I'd like someone to come take a quick gander at our HBA aisles since it seems NOTHING is in the right place. I had to wait for the pharmacist the other day and decided to zone a little....I think whoever stocked the endcap I did just decided to put stuff wherever there was an empty space because only 2 things on the entire thing were where they should have been. I just called over the LOD and made her aware of the situation because there was no way I was going to be able to redo the entire thing in the 5 minutes I had (it still hasn't been done, btw). Our entire department is the same way....things on the wrong pegs, in the wrong bin, etc. It's a total joke trying to find items for guests and when they bring something up for a price check, it's almost always "well, the tag says "$X" and we go out and about 99% of the time, it's in the wrong spot...our ETL-Rx found sale signs up that were outdated by close to 2 weeks a little while ago and honored them since they were still out...

Panty bins zoned hahaha.....

And I thought zoning See Spot Save was crazy...

Our new DTL is big on having one spot zoned neatly. Daily. I usually hope I am too swamped getting guest services up to brand so I don't get stuck over there too much.

Why is upper leadership and management completely oblivious to how things are in the stores, I just dont get it. There seems to be a huge disconnect between corporate, DTLS, hell even some STLs, and everyone else. Hours keep getting cut, and the expectations and workload is increasing, yet somehow they still expect the Target Brand to be maintained. They kissed goodbye to the "Target Brand" when they decided to cut hours to the bone and eliminate specialist positions. In a year, maybe a little more, there will be no target brand. It will just be a less occupied, less nasty version of Walmart. The path they have choosen to be competitive is to gash payroll below even what the minimum SHOULD be.

Took me awhile to figure it out and I think the answer is that they want to turn Target into the "Best Buy" of fashion. Think about it: Red Card and Service plan obsessions, useless cleaning, letting guests get off huge discounts, different employees like the old Radio Shack contract that Target didn't have to pay for but was like an extra employee.
