But seriously....leveraging help from Logistics is going to be the only way you can survive. Have a great relationship with your receiver so they can relay information/suggestions/coachings to your vendors. Great relationship with your Flow TL so they ensure that their team is FIFO's, culling, and generally maintaining pershiables. Great relationship with BRTL to have a solid BRTM that keeps an eye out for expiring product and purges regularly. Ideally you use truck days to reset everything in perishables so it looks nice and clean. Your "consumables" TM's will just simply push product and maintain.
Communication, making sure all parties are involved with all upcoming promotions, vendor changes, endcap switch outs, product movement, etc is KEY. Consumables doesn't get the benefit of being able to sit on product...if you go through an endcap change or vendor change or pershiable change...you can't just backstock the product. You need plans and you need them a week prior and you need that information out there ASAP.
