So I was looking at the LOD schedule while waiting to punch in and I noticed my STL isn't working Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve or New Years Day...is this normal? I remember my etl talking to me about having to choose which holiday to work.

I think the real question here is...

Is there anything we can really do about it?

And honestly I could care less, STL is a stressful job, and even though u get paid way wayyyy more than the rest of us, I realize that you are probably in the store for 60 hours a week, compared to my 40.

Oh jeeze who the heck is your STL lol.

The LOD schedule isn't always accurate. I wouldn't worry about it and let him/her run the store.

At my store the December schedule for leaders was just finalized and is definitely subject to change.
I agree with @Retail Girl...it doesn't really matter. (I understand that it means more to team members to see the STL or ETLs working on holidays just like hourly people work but it is what it is).

My STL never worked holidays, and would take weekend that were expected to be busy from local events off. Must be nice right?

I can't speak for every STL as ASANTS and indeed ADANTS applies here, but our STL wrote out not only the ETLs' schedules but his own as well. He gave himself pretty much every weekend off, especially during 4th quarter, and all holidays with the exception of Black Friday (and only then because it was a requirement imposed by our GVP that every single employee be working on BF.) He pretty much only did opening shifts and would get upset whenever the DTL got a hair up her ass and decided to randomly make him close. He also took a looooot of vacations. I mean a lot of time off. Meanwhile, his ETLs had no decision over their own schedules and his least favorite ETLs always got the crappier shifts.

As someone else in the thread said, it's good to be the king.

Our STL went 3 days without sleep last holiday. I know it is true- she didnt tell me, a TL did. All the mngt at our store work ridiculous hrs . I am glad I am tm. I am obviously not ambitious, but as you can see, I am quite beautiful and I only have to rely on my good looks to get by.

Our Stl does the etl/srtl schedule a month at a time . I know that the stl works every other weekend ( like all other etls, srtl) If she opens one weekend, then her next weekend she works she closes ....she has certain days she is the mid, opening, and closing lod....same with all the leaders in the building . I have heard out of a sr tls own mouth that our current stl is very fair about how she does the schedule for the etls, srtls.

Now that I think more about it, my STL takes probably at least 7 days of "vacation" per month, never closes, and is only there in the mornings. Except for Black Friday, I haven't seen her in on a holiday either...

Wanna trade? My STL is fair with the LOD schedule, even including himself in the Friday closing rotation, but his presence can be unbearable.

Yikes. Guess the kings and queens think alike. I'd like to think these people attend a giant asshole convention somewhere.

My STL takes a lot of vacation/time off and I'm perfectly fine with that. No way he's here 60 hrs a week.

When he's here, he's not lazy, just an asshole. Every other time I'm near the guy, he's speaking to me like I'm a 2 year old. When my prior STL spoke to me, he had real reasons for doing so (I miss him). This new guy just likes to wave his dick in your face.

At my store the LOD's get to pick one of those days as a day off and we work the other 2. Normally we all get what we want but if too many of us want the same day off we get together and figure it out. My STL is included in this. She works about 60 hours a week and she is pretty fair with what we work. She puts herself on a closing night and rotates closing Fridays and weekends with us. She does 4am shifts when needed too.

The higher volume the store, the more etls in the building, the less rotating shifts the Stl has to do. If there are 8+ etls in the building and each needs one Closing night a week, s/he never needs to close.
For image-sake s/he should be rotating weekends tho.

Our STL is supposed to be closing every wednesday, but she doesn't. Never here on weekends. I wish she could get some kind of promotion to District or something, and that our ETL-LOG would just take over cause he's basically our STL. Everyone sees him as a higher authority than our STL.

I think our STL totally ignores his schedule and is there 7 days/week. We don't see him but he will respond to walkie. He's usually helping with something in the back room and that's when he's not LOD. Otherwise, he's on the floor jumping in whereever he can help. I can't say the same thing for some of our other leadership. We have undergone a few massive changes in the past two years. The very first LOD I worked for reputedly hid a cot in TMSC and did sleep over, particularly when the weather forecast was bad. He wasn't about to risk not being able to show up at work. Now that's dedication! (mixed with a little OCD).

I almost never see our STL. I saw him on Thanksgiving/Black Friday and a little in the days before but other than that, where he's at is a mystery to me.

Each district is different but STLs are suppose to close on night a week. Doesn't have to be as LOD they are also suppose to do one overnight a month.
