Archived Late Paid Vacation Payout?

So I quit at Target in December 2018, after a little over a year and half there. I recently received a letter in the mail from Target apologizing for not originally paying out my vacation and sick hours when I quit (which I didn't receive with the cash for my last paycheck) and that a check was included for that money as well as for additional wages due to the delay. The check included was for significantly more money that I could imagine I had earned with my time there. Is this a known scam or has anyone else received something like this?

What state are you in? I could see this being legit if your state is one that requires hours to be paid out.

Worst case, contact corporate HR, they'll be able to tell you if it's legit or not. Hopefully it is, and you'll get to enjoy a little bonus. I wish every state required earned vacation to be paid upon separation. It's just the right thing to do, imo.
