Sales Floor Let's meet in the Middle; an Electronics/Tech thread

The last time we did one, about 45 minutes into it, our SD saw our demo TM just standing there with no guests around. SD told the TM to wrap it up and do real Electronics work. The same TM is in today, but not our SD, so they will probably be just standing there twiddling their thumbs.

We have the password for dge, now:)
This was always known lol, you can find it on workbench and every google demo. Target Mobile also knows this network for people who factory reset their phones because you cant use a wifi network with a captive portal for setup. Also set all our demo TV's to this wifi so guests cant cast porn to them.

How did your Vizio demo go today? 1 guest ask questions & that’s it:(

Ours went okish we had a variety of TVs going now just the 2 that we’re said to Demo. You be surprised when u put something else on then Channel Red how guests will migrate back to the dept esp when it’s not the same thing on repeat. There’s also been on occasions we would just put random things on some TVs if something special is happening Example: Avengers Endgame releasing we played for a whole week different Marvel movies till it opened in theaters & Sports= we will have it on to a point.

We didn’t know what the demo was supposed to be for, so the demo person helped in toys since there were already two of us in electronics.

How did your store leaders not even know this even with it being on Workbench for almost a month ahead now. We are already planning the next planned one on Fathers Day Weekend (JBL). The two weeks before that we already have a themed planned with the addition of Heyday added

Did the Rugrats play right after? Lol. On 1 of ours we had classic 90s Nickelodeon on.

Our ETL HR would be super happy if they were at least a few feet nearby the Demo guests around or not but at least always bringing guests attention to the Demo as they come near. We also if it is slow we have them help with some things if it be for truck or something so they are still productive but also able to multitask and if a guest comes near they can easily strike up a conversation.

It's not that the store leaders don't know, it is that they don't care and don't communicate.

I know there’s been rumors going around in my district that stores might start to be required to show that they are doing demos. I know of at least 1 store in the district that doesn’t do any of them no matter what area they might be in for the weekend.

I love demos that we get to keep the demo units of. I love showing people the fitbit's so they get a feel how it fits. Made our hue light display actually togglable with a wemo and nest home hub from Christmas. Not demos, but we have UE speakers that BDS ordered too many of and we use them to show guests party mode. Having actual demo units help sales way more than handing out stickers for a TV.

For the occasional defected discs aka mechanical failure or when the disc gets to overly played when the guest tries to beat the game 100% trophies and all aka normal wear & tear
I offer protection plans on all products EXCEPT videogames because if its defective they can just come by the store and exchange it for the same one and you’d have to explain to me how a disc suffers “wear and tear” for me to buy it alongside a game. Honestly, if I were on the receiving end and someone asked me if i wanted a protection plan with my game, I’d think they don’t know what they’re talking about. There’s my rant (not at you but at the dam registers that prompt for it).

Funny story. I had them at the boat yesterday and was about to go to guest services to defect them when a guest comes up asking about them. Of course he wants a discount. I tell him "You know normally it's 10% but Im willing to go 20% off." He asks if that's the best I could do and I call Closing Lead to confirm and he says yh that we'll make more money anyway if we send them back to Funko. Sucks but I tried.

I did the same to the broken glove Thanos pops. Told him to take the 10 or leave it cause we would get the money either way from damage. He bought them.

I think it's silly because all the game companies offer free replacements for damaged media.

I wonder why it's that very specific 3 foot cable that goes up in flames. Although in general, the reviews on those cables are pretty trash.

I dunno how likely it is, but that one looks like it has metal of some sort around the USB connectors, so spark/fire hazard there?
