Sales Floor Let's meet in the Middle; an Electronics/Tech thread

Lucky you. I'm pretty sure they moved all non market source stores to activation-only (no support) for all prepaid.
Heres the thing. Although I don't remember being trained on it but I have activated a guest's phone before. WHEN I HAVE TIME. It was really busy. 141 was in the 100s. I had to zone baby and pets tonight too. backstock 4 boxes of books. Sorry debra not today.
They cancelled the theragun clearance ☠️
LMFAOOOO why??

There is training on workday:(. But, there was a sign saying certain hours during the week to active phones.

Something that has been plaguing us and Target Mobile for some time is how sometimes ATT prepaid sims would just flat out not register on the network. We have finally found the reason. There are two types of sim cards, and the ones with the gray background DO NOT work. The ones with the fully white background DO work. PXL_20220805_190858965.jpg

Possible solution is to call the activation number on a myDevice and get up to the point where you select which plan you want and then the part where it asks you to pay, then you can use the POA app and re-up the phone number with the same receipt.

Vizio was the brand we had issues with multiple turning purple after a while.
Lol. In our electronics 2.0 store. we don't have those really cool tv sections like the oled or the Samsung 8000 series stuff. Its just all the same bracket running the same video. Also, for what ever reason. The TVs are on 24/7 power. so they never turn off. Meaning that our LG oled has burn in with the target logo LOL.

Does your electronics stockroom lock? Ours doesn't and our AP TL keeps saying that the old PML broke it, then another time says a vendor broke it, but I keep hearing they won't fix it because it'd affect OPU stats. La sighhhhh

Is your tech stockroom inside the main stockroom or its own? If it is its own stockroom (meaning guests can easily access the door) and it won’t lock that seems like a major security issue. OPU should have their own keys.

It is it's own, remodel in 2015 didn't merge it. They have tneir own keys, one set. Which should be one person for a shift to help balance it, then TLs and Tech to help when needed, right?

I can't believe for six months I haven't noticed these. So who is the emo nerd in corporate planogram lol

iPhones always have code names!
From what I recall:
iPhone 14 seems to be Lion and Cat
iPhone 13 was Dane, Lab, Pug
iPhone 12 was Lime, Cherry, Coconut
iPhone 11 was Mango
iPhone X was Cheese Fondue

As well as case manufacturers having their own codenames.

Apparently someone ripped the S3 off the tech boat today. Ours is screwed on, not in a drawer.

Has this happened for y'all?

Whoa now I have a mission to find these lol. Thank you for giving my job a reason for existence!

Omg I always resent the manufacturer’s that just name the iPhone case for its size before knowing the name. (iPhone 5.7 2021 inch model blah blah) if lucky a vendor will come in to correct it with a sticker “iPhone 12 pro, I phone 6,7,8 etc) I didn’t get any damn code names.

Several large book shipments as of late... Any other electronics TMS out there forced to push books as well?

Some days it's just too much, our department is scheduled just 1 team member the whole day (including weekends), 8 hours is often not enough to push electronics AND books, make sure the pricing is done, RFID, one for ones, price audit, revisions/sales planners.

All of our mobile accessories are in keeper cases and all too often guests think they need paid for at the boat so I have to stop what I'm doing and go ring out a cell phone case.

I've been with target for over a decade and the amount of work expected is ridiculous.

As you can see from the label on the box, sure seems like "gm" responsibility. Coupled with the fact that to pull entertainment one for ones, or do entertainment pricing I have to add entertainment as a "role" on the my device.
We are lucky, we have an entertainment DBO that was an entertainment specialist when that was still a thing.

We have been asked to do their reshop and one for one's though.

When I was tech we always did books and movies. Most of the time I didn’t mind because I find the book revisions kind of relaxing to work on. But, we would often fall behind with entertainment push because it just comes in so heavy sometimes.

Thrice. 1st one was clipped, 2nd one was was outright yanked out. 3rd one they unscrewed it and it was like it was never there. Also started smashing our cases in with Target brand hammers

It is a GM responsibility but there's alot of stores that just can't spare the bodies, and we are right there anyway. Honestly though I can't completely agree with you unless you're getting massive amounts of stuff every single day. You only do major pricing once a week, you only do revisions twice a week (if you are doing entertainment...MAYBE, and that depends on the size of your entertainment I guess), and you only do rfid once a week and let's be honest, if you're taking longer than 30 minutes to do Tech RFID, you're fooling around. Books can fall behind just a little on one of those busy days and be picked up the next IMO, if your store has an issue with that then they are at fault there of course. I've been doing entertainment with my tech workload since before Modernization and it carried forward. Not only that, but we do mobile activations. You can fit a lot of stuff in if you're managing the week properly for yourself (if you're the primary member.) As far as people asking to be checked out at the boat, have you tried to just gently be like 'Oh, you are welcome to check those out up front if you'd like', and I'd say 70% of the time they'll just be like 'Oh okay' and go up front.

Let's be honest, if you're tech in a store that isn't stupid high volume tech department with a ridiculous amount of truck in every day, you're overpaid if you don't help out elsewhere.
