I quote federal law. Coffee breaks which is considered 5 to 20 minutes is a compesatable break. If an employer offers 30 minute+ breaks they are considered off the clock unpaid. It depends on your state laws when the minimum time frame is dictated before compliance is broken.
 
I wont tell yall my state but here its 6 hours and your in compliance which merits a reprimand.
 
In my state, Target requires hourly employees to take a 45-minute lunch. Every state is different.
 
Yup, state by state. It is listed near the punch clock though, as well as listed in the handbook they gave you at orientation.
 
Living in California, we need to take our lunch before the start of our 6th hour. We also take 45 minute lunches.
