Archived Paging using a phone other than the fitting room

I know when you use a fitting room phone it has a button called paging access and then you type 52, my question is can you page using any other phone or does it have to be that one?

Just a random question I had while "they" asked me to look at the fitting room phone because apparently I'm the store tech support guru..

Nope, that button is only on one phone for a specific reason.

You can still use the analog microphone if your store is old enough to have one. Ours is at TMSC.

We have a microphone in TSC, and our store is only 4 years old.

Oh I just figured it was limited to older stores since ours reminds me of the one from my elementary school PA system, and I've seeen people mention their store not having one.

At my old store you could've from one of 2 places. The fitting room was one the other is in TSC. Wherever in your store where they take call-outs from is where you should be able to make an overhead page.

We have the operator book at the FR, I'm going to look at it and see.

@squirrely I don't encourage you to actually make an overhead page if you are unauthorized to do so. As @qmosqueen said earlier n the thread, it really shouldn't be so accessible as it once was because people can be immature and use the overhead for things other than its intended purposes.

I am an LOD, so I think I am authorized. We had a mic at the service desk, but it broke. The FR mic works, but it's quiet and seems like it can only be heard in the back half of the store.

For instances with broken microphones, I've used the speakerphone if the phone has one. If it doesn't, well you might be SOL, sorry. Not sure but follow up with your PMT person to repair because in all honesty, microphones in working order IS necessary as paging is necessary for a lost child/person and announcements in general.

Looking back at your post history, I can say that we don't work in the same store unless you transferred to a store in a different area.

We had a work order and they said it wasn't necessary to fix the one at the service desk since the fitting room one works. Really annoying since most pages are from people at the service desk, so then service desk has to relay the page to the fitting room Attendant.

Probably my second FR shift, GS sends a walkie message for a page. Not trained on it, never did one, never saw anyone do one. Start looking for notes or another SL TM for help. GS walkie - are you going to give the page? Um, yep, as soon as I figure out how..... GS didn't know either. Another SL TM had notes and I made the page and my own handwritten notes for the next time.

I have very rarely heard a page that didn't originate at the FR.
