Hey everyone! So, I created this because I have been given the chance for a promotion to GSA, something I've wanted for quite some time now. I already had my first interview with my team lead last week, but I might have my LOD interview today. I'm just looking for some advice, things I should or shouldn't do or say. Any type of help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you :)

First let me ask... What are your intentions with Target? Just a temporary job? Want to build a career out of Target?

GSA is a highly underpaid position, so unless you want to use it as a stepping stone to a TL position, you're better off not taking the position. There are a lot of other N07 (.50 cent raisE) positions in the store, Food ave, starbucks, entertainment, Presentation, Flow, to name a few.

gsa is only a 50 cent raise? The three gsa's in my store have all told me they got 1.50.

Maybe your store pulled some strings for your GSAs, which actually is quite admirable. But yeah... GSA is N07, which is Base Pay + $.50

The position should really be N09 along with PA's, since they are similar roles I think? :/

Go for the promotion, but hold out for equal raise to the other gsa's. We've heard about other tm who were shafted.

i asked my ETL today what the raise was for GSA and she told me 1.50? I wonder why it's higher in my store.

be sure to ask an ETL who really knows - such as the ETL-HR with access to the info.

Those type of increases don't apply to the ETL's, or an ETL may be misinformed. I've seen that happen far too often.

Sometimes even the ETL-HR isn't sure until they look it up to key the promotion, and by then the tm has agreed to take it.

Just be sure.

Perhaps it depends on the area. The raise would be higher in a store located in a high cost of living state like New York?

not going to say where i'm located but certainly not a high cost of living state. i would say that this etl knows what they are talking about and it's been told me to by 3 different gsa's that it was 1.50.

What is photo suppose to be? Mine was a 2 dollar an hour raise when i went to a photo team member and then i was promoted to a GSTL from there.

Red, wish I was at your store..... its .25 for Photo TM at my store (pretty sure they fudged it to .50 for someone though... meh), .50 for gsa, .75 for photo asst.... You got TWO DOLLARS for a photo promotion ? Jeez!

i was the photo asst but yes it was 2 dollars. I always thought it was stupid that i made more than the gsa's.

I think our stores are very different though. ONLY gsa's do cash office and you can only be a gsa if you're looking to promote to a TL. So yes, gsa's are probably cheap GSTL's in a sense (although it does make me a little mad when people on here say that gsa's do just what a GSTL does) but this is a stepping stone and once you are a gsa you begin mentoring to become a TL.

Your TMs are making almost TL pay... Lol. God my store is a joke.

i thought this was the norm. I'd be interested to know what gsa's make at other stores in our district.

Do you know what the raise is for a TL?

At our store, up to $3 an hour for TL, but it depends on how much you were making before the promotion.

Not enough for me to put up the crappy schedule.

Believe it or not, only the ETL-HR and STL have access to pay information. Every other ETL who tries to access this information on workbench gets an access denied message. Most ETLs don't even know what pay grades certain positions are, let alone exactly how much of a pay difference they get.

Hmm, interesting. My store is a bit different. In my store the GSAs (we have four of them) do cash office and often our HR Specialist will take CO shifts. I believe our HR specialist was a GSA back in the day too...We also have several GSAs who made it to GSA and are not interesting in being a Team Leader. Interesting!
I agree with you on the stepping stone thing. GSA is a great stepping stone for someone (like myself) who is interested in becoming a Team Leader.

according to BP only GSA's are to be in the cash office. the only time we have an old co spec. in there is in the case of a call in.

After I left, I was told they had to put an old CO spec in there to fill schedule gaps. She's instocks now, and hasn't done CO in yearsssss... Poor girl!

biggest drawback for me being a GSTL is not doing co.. I really miss my quiet time! when i first promoted to GSTL we needed to get two new gsa's and so we were short on co so i would still do it once or twice a week and when i would finish early i would stay in there to get my business walk and status done. Now i have to beg to get time off the floor to do it if i don't finish schedule early enough to do things that day.

Hmm, interesting. Our HR specialist was a GSA before she transferred to HR so maybe that is why she is allowed to take CO shifts. Maybe that's why.

According to BP, we're supposed to use Smart Sort and put reshop away by using a printed out list on receipt paper.

We don't do that lol

i think there's a bit of a difference between who is allowed to do a job and the way you put away abandon.

Also, our GS uses smart sort and prints the list out. Whether anyone uses them isn't my concern.
