I was wondering if Redcard worked with payroll cards and if it is a terrible thing to get a payroll card. I don't currently have a bank account. I heard a tiny bit about Target having its own credit union. How is that? I am a bit confused.
Don't know about redcard; you can use your TM discount with the Target payroll card but they charge fees on everything.
Better to check into a local credit union & learn where their ATMs are located so you can avoid fees.
There's also a thread on Target's credit union.
I would avoid the payroll card, they have a very bad reputation.
Like redeye said any local credit union is going to be a much better option, just get direct deposit so you don't have to travel much and get the Target debit card so you get the 5% off.
I am with a great Credit Union. It has no branches except for the main office building. That is ok though, as I can make deposits in any other credit union's ATM's. Credit Union > banks for sure! No fees, money deposited into ATM's is availible right away, and I can deposit checks from my phone if needed and it goes in right away!.
I have a couple of savings account with BCU (the credit union that owns TCU)... They are friendly and the interest is great! Don't know about checking account, but the debit card is elgible for the TM Discount.
